Sharesight is an award-winning cloud investment portfolio tracking solution used by DIY investors and finance professionals. Sharesight leverages 20 years of historical data and syncs with brokers to track trades, dividends and corporate actions automatically.

You can use Sharesight to run performance and tax reports in one click and connect to Xero via an award-winning add-on integration. Plus, you can share access unlimited access with anyone you wish. Because Sharesight pulls everything into one place, we like to call it an investor’s “portfolio passport”.

What has been the company's biggest milestone to date?

When we ran our own crowdfunding campaign and successfully raised NZD$2 million dollars from our own customers. This was proof positive that our customers, retail investors themselves, saw the value of Sharesight and trusted us by investing directly in us.

The cool part is that we used many of the same applications to complete the round that we use to run Sharesight on a day-to-day basis: Survey Monkey, Campaign Monitor, FreshDesk, GoToMeeting and Docusign. And who knows, perhaps one day when we’re a publicly listed company, they’ll even use Sharesight to track the shares themselves!

What’s your most useful advice for having a productive day?

Shut down everything that alerts, pings, beeps or slacks. There is so much information coming our way these days. It’s never been more important to understand the value of focus, and quality of work time beats quantity every day.

Where do you see the company in 12 months?

We’ll continue our expansion into Canada and make more of a push into the UK. Back home, we’re aiming to announce a couple of major addition to our fintech ecosystem.

Which book has had the most influence on your professional mindset?

The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life by Alice Schroeder. Obviously, Buffett is a legendary investor, but his values are more important now than ever given the hype around technology.
