In two sentences or less, describe your product or service.

Pocketbook helps Australians simplify the way they organise, budget and manage their money. Over 300,000 Australians rely on Pocketbook to provide them with meaningful insights into their spending, such as large fees, late bills and over-budgeting, which is automatically detected based on their day-to-day spending with their bank.

What has been the company's biggest milestone to date?

The biggest milestone for Pocketbook was coming together with zipMoney last September. It was the first fintech-to-fintech merger in Australian history. Now, as one organisation, we are super focussed on redefining the Australian financial services landscape and pioneering a set of consumer-friendly financial services that simplify how you pay everywhere and save every day.

What’s your most useful advice for having a productive day?

Start early. It's the best way to get the most out of the day. Usually, I’ll start planning for the day mentally when I’m in the shower. If you start just an hour ahead of your competitor every day, you end up working a whole month more than your competitor every year – what a tremendous competitive advantage.

Where do you see the company in 12 months?

We’re working on a lot of product-related improvements in the next 12 months. We want to make the product even smarter and give users even more value. So watch out for some quantum leaps for the Pocketbook core product in the next year.

Which book has had the most influence on your professional mindset?

Nudge by Richard Thaler and Cass Sunstein, which is probably the most accessible book when it comes to behavioural economics. It not only shaped the way I manage staff, but also how we think about our product to make it more usable for users. It’s all about design.
