Avoka Transact is a platform that gives financial institutions a cutting edge digital onboarding, product application and customer acquisition platform. What has been the company's biggest milestone to date?
The natural inclination would be to answer this from a numbers and metrics perspective, be it double digit growth, strong recurring revenues, successful capital raising or the international and Australian customer list.
However, the less obvious milestone, and often harder to measure, is receiving the market feedback over time that we are solving a problem that is important and that matters to our customers. It’s a defining moment and one that underpins the company.
What’s your most useful advice for having a productive day?
Firstly, take a moment each morning to set out the two or three things that you will absolutely complete that day and stick to it. Secondly, empower others in your business with actions and decision-making boundaries in order to get things done. Finally, have a moment to yourself that’s not about work, be it a short walk, fresh air, a coffee or a surf, just like the staff in our Manly office do!
Where do you see the company in 12 months?
If the last 12 are anything to go by, it’s going to continue to be a great journey. We have put on around 100 staff globally, added global banks to our customer list and developed new aspects of our platform. I see the next 12 months as more of the same.
Which book has had the most influence on your professional mindset?
Dr Robert Cialdini is the founding father of The Principles of Persuasion. This book is a human-centered insight into how we all use these principles knowingly or unknowingly. I ended up attending the training course and it’s been the most enduring and informative teaching I have ever attended. It just clicked for me and I understood how to get better outcomes personally and professionally while maintaining a genuine and authentic sense of self.
