finder Rewards Roundup: Qantas, Velocity, Etihad, BoM
Collect bucketloads of bonus points, win a trip to LA and enjoy free Uber rides all year with this week’s Rewards Roundup.
If you're contemplating where to travel in 2017, this week's Rewards Roundup could help you narrow down your choices with the latest bonus points and rewards deals. Whether you want to double your Qantas Points, bolster your flybuys balance, win a trip to LA with Velocity or claim free Uber trips with Bank of Melbourne, there are plenty of ways to reward yourself on your next trip in 2017.
Double your Qantas Points on all Qantas flights
Qantas Frequent Flyers have twice as many reasons to book their 2017 holiday this weekend. If you book a Qantas operated flight before 11.59pm on Monday 23 January, you’ll earn double bonus Qantas Points. As we reported earlier this week, the double points deal is available on all flights between 1 February 2017 and 7 January 2018. All you need to do is register for your bonus offer, quote your Qantas Frequent Flyer number at the time of booking and you’ll receive twice as many points within a few weeks of your travels.
Qantas has a minimum points guarantee of 800 points per flight, which would double to 1,600 for the duration of the promotion. However, exactly how many points you’ll earn will vary depending on the destination and class of your flight. For example, you could earn 2,800 points on a business flight from Sydney to Brisbane or 31,000 points on an Economy flight between London and Sydney. Of course, the longer the route and higher the cabin class, the more points you’ll earn. You can use the points calculator on the Qantas website to see exactly how many points you’ll earn while the double points promotion is up and running.
Win your way to LA with flybuys and Velocity
Coles and Virgin Australia formed an alliance three months ago, but there’s never been a better time to link your flybuys and Velocity accounts. If you link your accounts by 31 January 2017, you’ll be in the running to win 1 out of 10 return Virgin Australia flights for two to LA. If you miss out on the big prize, 10 runners up can also look forward to scoring 10,000 flybuys points.
Just visit the flybuys website and you can link your accounts within seconds. Just make sure to have your membership numbers and login details handy to connect your accounts smoothly. Once you’ve done this, even if you don’t score any of the big prizes, you can still look forward to turning your shopping costs into flights and travel perks with Velocity.
Earn up to 25 bonus flybuys points with Etihad Airways
If you thought Qantas’ bonus points deal was good, Etihad Airways flyers will be blown away by the airline’s latest offer with flybuys. If you book an Etihad flight to London, Dublin or New York for travel by 27 January 2017, you’ll earn 25 times as many flybuys points as you usually would. If none of those locations tickle your fancy, you can still take advantage of 20x bonus points on all other Etihad flights booked by 27 January. These bonus points are available for all Etihad flights taken between 1 February 2017 and 10 December 2017. There’s your 2017 getaway decided!
Considering you can usually only earn 1 flybuys point per $1 spent on Etihad flights, booking flights before the end of the month is an easy way for flybuys members to give their points balance a boost. The bonus flybuys promotion coincides with some competitive return flight deals as well. If you’re chasing the 25x bonus points, you could fly return Economy from Melbourne to London for $1,345, to Dublin for $1,164, to New York for $1,631 and Rome for $1,348. See the flybuys website to compare the full range of flight deals on offer.
Get an Uber ride for free thanks to Bank of Melbourne
Bank of Melbourne is giving customers the opportunity to cut down on Uber costs in 2017. If you use your Bank of Melbourne Visa debit card to cover your next Uber fare, enter the promo code “Ubermakers17”. Then, after nine rides, your 10th ride will be on BoM. You can take advantage of this offer as many times as you want up to $20 per trip and a total of $300 all year. So, let’s say that you order at least one Uber trip per week, you could land yourself at least five free Uber rides this year. This deal excludes uberTaxi though, so stick to UberX if you want to score the free trip and stay within the $300 yearly budget.
