finder Rewards Roundup: Citi and Qantas

Sally McMullen 11 November 2016 NEWS

Pick up the highest bonus points offer on the market and discover a whole lotta ways to boost your Qantas Points this week.

This week’s Rewards Roundup features the most competitive bonus points offer you can earn when paying with plastic, plus plenty of ways to earn extra Qantas Points when shopping, hiring a car or transferring points to your Qantas account.

Earn 150,000 bonus points during the Citi Flash Sale

Earlier this week, Citi took us by surprise with the launch of their Flash Sale, which would see the Citi Platinum and Signature credit cards offering the most competitive bonus points offer on the market. Available to cardholders who apply and are approved for either of the cards by 22 November, you’ll be rewarded with a bonus of up to 150,000 Citi Rewards points when you meet the spending requirement. Rather than earning the 150,000 points in one hit, you’ll pick them up in 10,000 point increments when you spend $1 in a statement period. This offer is valid for up to 15 months, so as long as you spend at least $1 every statement period for a year and three months, you’ll accumulate the full 150,000 points.

While both of the cards have a reduced annual fee of $124 for the Platinum card and $197 for Signature card in the first year, these revert to $249 p.a. and $395 p.a. respectively thereafter. All purchases will also collect an interest rate of 20.99% p.a., so you should make sure that these costs don’t outweigh the benefits of the rewards before you apply for the card. You can see our analysis of whether the points are worth the costs here.

Pick up 1,000 bonus Qantas Points on car hire

Enjoy extra points when you rent a car with Avis or Budget over the next month. If you a book a rental car in Australia for three or more days before 16 December 2016, you’ll earn 4 points per $1 spent, plus you'll receive 1,000 bonus points in your account. The bookings must be made with either of these two partnered car hire companies and will need to be booked through the Qantas website to secure the points. If you have an interstate trip coming up, this is the perfect excuse to finally take that great Australian road trip and pick up some points along the way.

Win up to 500,000 Qantas Points and double your points earned when shopping at THE ICONIC

You now have even more of a reason to shop at one of Australia’s largest online fashion retailers. When you shop at THE ICONIC via Qantas’s Online Mall, you’ll earn 10 points per $1 spent rather than the usual 5 points. The offer is only available until 20 November 2016. You can also get 15% off exclusive THE ICONIC labels until 30 November 2016 with the code 15ICONQNV.

THE ICONIC and Qantas have also teamed up to offer entrants the chance to win a whopping 500,000 Qantas Points. All you need to do is enter your full name and email address online before 25 November 2016 to get in the running. You can only submit one entry per person and you must be a Qantas Frequent Flyer member to enter, though you can sign up to the loyalty program for free if you haven’t already. Plus, see our THE ICONIC coupon guide to get a further 10% discount off your next online shopping splurge.

Collect up to 30% more Qantas Points on credit card reward transfers

If you’ve been racking up reward points on your credit card, you could get more bang for your buck this month with Qantas. The airline is matching Velocity’s bonus points offer by offering a 15% bonus when you transfer reward points from your credit card to your Qantas account until 30 November. If you’re transferring 350,000 points or more, you’ll receive a 25% bonus. If you’ve accumulated more than a million points, you could enjoy an extra 30% bonus points. Keep in mind that this offer is only available for indirect earn rewards cards, rather than Qantas Frequent Flyer credit cards that directly debit points to your Qantas account. Currently, indirect earn cards include the American Express Platinum Charge, the Westpac Altitude Business Platinum and the Westpac Business Gold joint American Express and Visa accounts.
