How to earn bonus points on everyday costs like taxi fares, food delivery and travel insurance.

This week we've highlighted some of the easiest ways to pick up bonus Qantas and Velocity Points on everyday expenses.

Win a share of 500,000 Velocity Points

Booking your travel insurance isn’t the most exciting part of organising your overseas holiday, but Velocity’s latest offer could help make it more rewarding at least. If you sign up for Cover-More travel insurance while booking a flight with Virgin Australia, you could win your share of 500,000 Velocity Points.

There are three prizes up for grabs. First prize will snag a whopping 300,000 Velocity Points, second prize will score 150,000 Velocity Points and third prize will come away with 50,000 Velocity Points.

Even if you’re not one of the lucky three winners, you’ll still earn 3 Velocity Points per $1 spent on Cover-More policies and can travel with the peace of mind knowing that you’re covered.

While the promise of free points is inviting, make sure to check out the policy terms and conditions to ensure you’re eligible, you understand what’s covered and know how to make a claim before you apply. Check out our guide to the Velocity frequent flyer program for more ways to earn points on everyday costs.

Get free delivery and earn bonus Qantas Points with Deliveroo

With the weekend coming up, what better time to treat yourself to some fast food straight to your door?

Plus, if you’ve linked your Qantas Frequent Flyer and Deliveroo accounts, you can reward yourself with points for every dollar you spend on your next meal. Until 31 July 2017, you can enjoy free delivery, up to the value of $5 on your next order when you enter the "QANTAS" discount code at the checkout. You’ll also continue to earn the standard 1 Qantas Point per $1 spent on your order.

As always, there’s a catch. To qualify for free delivery, you must make a minimum order of $17 between 1am and 4pm or a minimum of $25 between 4.01pm and 12.59am.

Earn 1,000 Qantas Points when you book taxi trips through ingogo

Forget about hailing your next cab. To get more bang for your buck, link your ingogo taxi booking app and Qantas Frequent Flyer account before your next trip. Once you’ve done this, you can earn 250 bonus Qantas Points on your taxi booking, up to 1,000 Qantas Points on your first four trips. A joining fee usually applies, but frequent flyers can avoid this cost if they sign up through the Qantas website.

This bonus point offer is only available until 30 September 2017, but that’s still plenty of time to reward your next couple of taxi trips!
