You could also earn up to 30% bonus Velocity Points when you exchange your credit card rewards and double your Velocity Status Credits. We’ll also walk you through Mastercard’s new rewards program for debit card holders and give you the promo code you need to get a free lunch at Sumo Salad this weekend.
Win your Qantas Points back this Christmas
Qantas is giving frequent flyers the chance to win their Qantas Points back when they shop at the Qantas Store this month. When you use your Qantas Points to shop at the Qantas Store by 18 December 2017, you’ll automatically go into the draw to win your points back. Qantas rewarded 700 lucky winners in total, with 100 winners drawn each week. But as time is running out, you’d better register for the offer and get shopping soon if you want to throw your hat in the ring.
Book travel insurance to win 1 of 10 Virgin Australia gift vouchers
Do you have an overseas trip coming up this summer? If you do, you could reward yourself for getting on top of your travel insurance. If you book Virgin Australia travel insurance by 20 December 2017, you could win 1 of 10 Virgin Australia gift vouchers worth $1,000 each! This is on top of the 3 Velocity Points you’d usually earn per $1 spent on your cover. Although the voucher and Velocity Points sound promising, make sure to check out what’s included under the policy and whether it suits your cover requirements before you sign up.
Earn up to 30% Velocity Points when you exchange your credit card rewards
If you’ve been hoarding some credit card reward points, this weekend might be the best time to exchange them for Velocity Points. If you move your credit card rewards to your Velocity account by 10 December 2017, you could score between 15% and 30% bonus frequent flyer points. The number of bonus points you’ll receive will depend on how many Velocity Points you would’ve usually nabbed:
|Transfer amount||Number of bonus points|
|1 to 50,000 Velocity Points||15% bonus points|
|50,001 to 100,000 Velocity Points||20% bonus points|
|100,001 to 250,000 Velocity Points||25% bonus points|
|250,000+ Velocity Points||30% bonus points|
You can take advantage of the bonus points offer if you’re transferring rewards from the following credit card issuers:
- American Express
- ANZ Rewards and ANZ Business Rewards
- Bank of Queensland
- Diners Club
You can check out our coverage of the promotion for more details.
Earn double Velocity Status Credits this month
If you’ve linked your flybuys and Velocity accounts, you could earn extra Status Credits (as well as points) on your grocery shop this month. For every $100 you spend at Coles, Coles online Liquorland and First Choice Liquor by 31 December 2017, you’ll score 2 Velocity Status Credits. This is double the usual 1 Status Credit per $100 that you’d usually earn. Unlike points, you can use Status Credits to move up the Velocity Frequent Flyer tiers to take advantage of higher earn rates, complimentary baggage allowance on flights and airport lounge entry.
