finder Rewards Roundup: Qantas and Velocity
Double your Qantas Status Credits, discover new ways to earn Qantas Points and score up to 100,000 bonus Velocity Points.
This week's Rewards Roundup is bursting with the latest points offers from Australia's favourite frequent flyer programs: Qantas Frequent Flyer and Virgin Australia's Velocity.
Get to your preferred Qantas tier faster with this double Status Credits offer
You could be relaxing in an airline lounge and picking up extra points much sooner thanks to the latest Status Credits offer from Qantas. If you book an eligible Qantas flight from now to 5 February 2018, you’ll score twice as many Status Credits! The flight has to be booked for 12 February 2018 to 20 January 2019.
Let's say you’re a Bronze Qantas Frequent Flyer and are flying from Melbourne to Los Angeles in Premium Economy. You’d usually earn 100 Status Credits for this flight, but this will be increased to 200 credits if you register for the promotion. As Bronze Qantas Frequent Flyers must have at least 100 Status Credits, the bonus Status Credits from your flight would be enough points to push you into the Silver category (which requires 300 Status Credits). You can check out our guide to the Qantas Status tiers for more information on the specific benefits you can expect as you climb the Status Credits ladder.
If you’re a Qantas Frequent Flyer, you should’ve received an email regarding the offer with a link to register for the Status Credits deal. Unlike bonus points offers, bonus Status Credit offers are a bit of a rarity, so you might want to jump on this one while you can.
You can now earn and redeem your Qantas Points with Luxury Escapes
Qantas Frequent Flyers now have another way to use their points to book luxury travel. Thanks to a new partnership between the loyalty program and Luxury Escapes, you can earn 1 Qantas Point per $1 spent when booking everything from hotels, flights and tours for your next trip.
In the coming weeks, you’ll also have the opportunity to redeem your Qantas Points for travel rewards on Luxury Escapes.
Qantas's alliance with Luxury Escapes joins Qantas Hotels and Airbnb as just some of the ways you can pick up Qantas Points on your next holiday.
Score double Velocity Points and a complimentary upgrade on car rentals with Hertz
If you book a car in Australia or New Zealand by 28 February, you’ll earn double Velocity Points. The rental must be booked by 31 March 2018, although there is a blackout period between 30 March and 2 April 2018 over the Easter long weekend.
As the bonus points vary depending on your Velocity Frequent Flyer status, we’ve broken it down by the tiers below.
|Status||Standard earn rate||Bonus points|
|Red||3 Velocity Points per $1 spent||6 Velocity Points per $1 spent|
|Silver||4.5 Velocity Points per $1 spent||9 Velocity Points per $1 spent|
|Gold||5.25 Velocity Points per $1 spent||10.5 Velocity Points per $1 spent|
|Platinum||6 Velocity Points per $1 spent||12 Velocity Points per $1 spent|
In addition to the bonus points, you could also score yourself a free car upgrade at your pick-up location if you register for this offer. To score the offer, make sure to book through a Hertz counter or the Virgin website and include the promotional code #204135 as well as your Velocity Frequent Flyer number when you make the booking.
If you’re a Qantas Frequent Flyer, Qantas is running a similar offer of 1,000 bonus Qantas Points and a free upgrade when you rent a vehicle with Avis or Budget this month. Check out last week’s Rewards Roundup for the full details.
Get up to 100,000 Velocity Points with a SocietyOne loan
SocietyOne is making its loan offering more rewarding for Velocity Frequent Flyers. If you apply by 31 March 2018, you could earn up to 2 Velocity Points for every $1 you borrow with a new loan. You can apply for loans between $5,000 and $50,000 with SocietyOne, so you could collect up to 100,000 Velocity Points in total!
Check out our coverage of this offer for more information regarding the eligibility requirements and rate details.
