finder Rewards Round-up: Qantas, Velocity, KrisFlyer

Enjoy bonus points, award flight discounts and your chance to win a luxury cruise trip to Antarctica.
This week’s Rewards Round-up is bursting with offers from some of Australia’s favourite frequent flyer programs: Qantas Frequent Flyer, Virgin Australia’s Velocity and Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer. So whether you want to earn bonus points on a flight booking or car rental, save points when you redeem your next award flight or discover how you can get into the running for Qantas’ cruise giveaway, we’ve got you covered.
Win a $47,000 PONANT luxury expedition to Antarctica with Qantas
Your next case of wine could reward you with bonus points and a luxury cruise to Antarctica! This is because when you purchase any product from Qantas epiQure until 31 May 2018, you’ll automatically go in the draw to win a luxury PONANT cruise expedition to Antarctica.
Valued at $47,000, this once-in-a-lifetime adventure includes an 11-day small ship expedition cruise with French-inspired cuisine (accompanied by exceptional wine, of course) and regular Zodiac land outings.
To celebrate the massive giveaway, Qantas has also introduced four expedition-inspired Explorer cases which could reward you with 3,000 bonus Qantas Points, as well as an entry into the competition! See our round-up of April's best Qantas epiQure deals for more ways to reward yourself when you stock up on wine this month.
Earn up to 1,000 bonus Velocity Points when you book your next flight
Velocity's latest bonus points offer is giving its frequent flyers another reason to book flights this weekend. If you book an eligible Virgin Australia flight by 29 April 2018, you can earn up to 1,000 bonus Velocity Points on your booking.
As this is a targeted offer, it’s only available to a number of Velocity Frequent Flyers and the offers may vary between members. If you were selected, you should have received an email with details regarding the promotion and a prompt to activate the deal. It also appears that the number of bonus points up for grabs can vary between frequent flyers. For example, we’ve seen some members offered 500 bonus Velocity Points while others get the full 1,000 points. Check your inbox for more details!
Double your Velocity Points with Thrifty
If you’re heading on a road trip, you can earn double Velocity Points on Thrifty rentals until the end of August. As long as your rental is for five days or more, you’ll earn twice as many points per $1 spent! The number of points you’ll earn will depend on your Velocity status, which you can compare below:
Status level | Standard earn rate | Bonus points earn rate |
---|---|---|
Red | 3 points per $1 | 6 points per $1 |
Silver | 4.5 points per $1 | 9 points per $1 |
Gold | 5.25 points per $1 | 10.5 points per $1 |
Platinum | 6 points per $1 | 12 points per $1 |
To earn up to 12 points per $1 on your Thrifty rental, make sure you book by 25 August for travel until 30 August 2018. Don’t forget to include your Velocity Frequent Flyer at the time of booking to score your bonus points.
A massive bonus points transfer deal is coming for Velocity Frequent Flyers
If you have been a Velocity Frequent Flyer for a while, you probably remember that it hosted the world’s biggest points exchange expo in November last year. Essentially, frequent flyers could get up to 30% bonus points when they transferred points from partnered card, hotel and retailer loyalty programs to their Velocity account.
Well, apparently Velocity has an even bigger deal in store for frequent flyers in May. Velocity emailed frequent flyers earlier this week, warning them to avoid transferring points until a record breaking exchange deal is launched next month. While Velocity has yet to confirm the details of the promotion, we can assume it’ll be even bigger than the points exchange expo.
For now, we do know that the promotion will involve card partners (including American Express, ANZ Rewards, NAB and Citi), hotel partners (such as Hilton Honors, Le Club AccorHotels and IHG Rewards Club) and Coles flybuys.
You can check out our in-depth coverage of the upcoming offer for more details and make sure to check back on finder for more details over the next few days.
Get 30% off KrisFlyer Award flights this week
You can make your KrisFlyer Miles go further this month with Singapore Airlines’ latest award flight offer. If you book an award flight with your KrisFlyer Miles by 30 April 2018, you’ll save with a 30% discount. This discount applies to flights within the Singapore Airlines or SilkAir network that are flown to and from Australia between 1 May and 31 May 2018. Blackout dates also apply, so make sure to keep a look out for these when you’re booking.
You can take advantage of the discount by following these steps:
- Log in with your KrisFlyer membership number and PIN.
- Select "Book a Flight" on your dashboard.
- Choose "Redeem flights" and select your travel details including the departure, destination and travel dates.
The 30% discount will be applied to the booking summary panel once the flights have been selected.
To provide an example of the potential savings, you can redeem a return Economy flight from Brisbane to Singapore for 39,200 miles (19,600 miles each way) during the promotional period. According to the KrisFlyer Miles calculator, this would usually cost 56,000 miles.
