Finder Green Fave: Sukin Natural Deodorant

Sukin's natural deodorant smells nice and is aluminium free, vegan and carbon neutral.
If you want to switch from an aluminium-based deodorant to one with more natural ingredients, you have plenty of choices – including crystals, creams, sticks and even some roll-on products. Sukin Natural Deodorant can be a good place to start because it comes in a spray bottle, which makes using it similar to many aluminium deodorants.
It's also widely available and has a recommended retail price of $6.95, which is competitive for both natural and aluminium-based deodorants.

What makes Sukin Natural Deodorant green?
Sukin's deodorant is made from natural ingredients including aloe vera, burdock, nettle and zinc, which helps prevent bacteria growth (and the body odour that comes from it). It is Australian made, vegan and cruelty-free.
It also uses natural ingredients for the scent, such as tangerine, mandarine, lavender and vanilla.
As well as no aluminium, Sukin Natural Deodorant has no parabens, phthalates, sulphates or silicones.
It has very little packaging as well: just a pump-spray bottle and plastic cap to stop it leaking if you're carrying it around.
Sukin is also carbon neutral and has partnered with Greening Australia to support its Reef Aid program on the Great Barrier Reef.
We tried it and loved it
I have been using Sukin Natural Deodorant for more than 5 years and really like how easy it is to use and how nice it smells. I've only ever bought the Signature Scent, which has a light vanilla and citrus smell.
It also comes in 2 other scents – Fresh Cotton and Ocean Spray – which I'm curious to try now.
I've worn this deodorant in all types of weather, while exercising and travelling – situations when body odour could become an issue. I've never had a problem, although it's worth noting I am someone who doesn't sweat a lot and I don't have armpit hair, which are 2 factors that can contribute to BO.
If you're trying a natural deodorant for the first time, or you sweat a lot, you might need to re-apply it during the day, especially as natural deodorants like this one from Sukin don't stop you sweating the way an aluminium-based antiperspirant one would.
Another thing to keep in mind when you're switching to a natural deodorant: Your body goes through a detox process, which can mean you have smelly pits for a couple of weeks before things settle down.
If you're already using a different, natural deodorant, the adjustment shouldn't be an issue. But you may want to do a spot-test first, as Sukin Natural Deodorant can affect sensitive skin.
Where can I buy it?
Sukin Natural Deodorant is available in major supermarkets and pharmacies, including Chemist Warehouse, Coles and Woolworths. Online, it's available through the Sukin website, Amazon, eBay and many other stores.
