Finder Green Fave: ettitude sateen eye mask

You'll sleep a little easier knowing this sleep mask is made with 100% sustainable bamboo.
I'm not someone who's big on routines, but one that is non-negotiable for me is bedtime. If, like me, you find that there's nothing better than a hot shower, fresh sheets and scented sleep spray to put you in the mood for a good snooze, keep reading.
When I recently decided to level up my sleep routine with a new luxe sleep mask, you best believe I was very selective about my choice and that led me to ettitude.
The ettitude sateen eye mask stood out with its pillowy thickness, generous coverage and, best of all, ettitude's sustainable practices.
What makes the ettitude sateen eye mask sustainable?
Guided by the UN's Sustainable Development goals, ettitude prides itself on making a positive impact on the planet. In 2021 alone, ettitude recycled 78,981 plastic bottles for its Down Alternative Duvet and prevented 85,963kg of CO2 by using CleanBamboo instead of cotton.
The mask itself is made with ettitude's sustainable CleanBamboo, which it says is the only bamboo fabric that uses a non-toxic solvent, while the mask's filling is crafted from recycled plastic bottles.
It also comes pre-washed and packaged in a bag made from biodegradable materials.
I tried it and it's cemented its place in my bedtime routine
Overall, I love this product because it does exactly what ettitude claims.
Its thickness and size make it great at blocking out light, which has been an issue for me in the past with sleep masks not quite sealing to my face. Although it's thicker than a standard sleep mask, it is definitely breathable.
When it comes to my skin, I haven't noticed any new breakouts since I've started using it. In saying that, it's very important to keep your mask as clean as possible to protect your skin (a subtle reminder to take that makeup off before bed!)
There are a couple of things that might not be for everybody though and the first is the colour palette. The sateen eye mask is available in Ocean (sort of a navy blue) and Slate (a mid to dark grey), so if you're after something bright or colourful you might want to consider other options.
The other thing to note is the lack of an adjustable strap. For me personally this wasn't a problem as I have a smallish head and like a secure fit, but I did see a few reviews that said they found the mask to be a bit tight – so that's something to take into account.
Where can I get it?
You can buy this sleep mask directly from ettitude's website where it retails for $34, as well as through other stores including THE ICONIC, Flora & Fauna and Temple & Webster. If you order through ettitude, keep in mind that there is a shipping cost on purchases under $50 so it might be worth finding a friend and ordering together if you can.
