It's finally here: Everything you need to know about the Finder app.

We have been working on building an app for the past year and a half. It's something I've been dreaming about for the past decade. It's a vision that's finally coming to life and I'm excited to share it with you first, Australia!

The Finder app is the first step in using automation to innovate the way you do banking. We built this app to empower you to live better.

If you expect your services to know more about you and use that information to serve you better, then you are going to love this app.

It's launching on 16 March 2020 in Australia. It's the first app in Australia to connect your bank accounts, analyse your details and show you how much you can potentially save across multiple categories:

  • Health insurance
  • Credit cards
  • Home loans
  • Savings accounts

Best of all, it's free!

Now more than ever, as the world is bracing for the economic impact from the Coronavirus, we need to recession-proof our finances. We need to make the most of our money and be more financially savvy. This app has come at the time we need it most.

Here is a breakdown of its key features:

The dashboard

The dashboard is where you see an overview of your money. It shows your cash position in a graph, which is how much money you have available, excluding any credit card debt. You'll also see notification cards with tips and guides to saving money, a list of your connected accounts and their balances, your free credit score and comprehensive report – which will update monthly and notify you when it's changed – and find a new product where you can compare thousands of other products in Finder's database.

Your products and bills

In the "Products and Bills" tab, the "Banking" section features your connected accounts with labels that suggest:

  • Potentially better deals (amber magnifying glass icon)
  • More information about your preferences is needed (blue padlock icon)
  • You've got a good deal (green thumbs up icon)

In the "Bills" tab you can track your regular expenses such as bills, subscriptions and memberships. If you can't see an expense in your list, you can manually add them by clicking the + button.

Settings

In the "Settings" tab, you can connect more banks, check out our security and privacy information, find your app settings and customer support.

How does it work?

We have invested in the best technology to securely connect the app to your bank accounts. We have partnered with a global leader in banking technology, Envestnet Yodlee, to provide that secure connection.

The app analyses your information and compares it to Finder's database and sends you notifications when it finds you potential savings by switching your products including health insurance, credit cards, home loans and savings accounts.

I want to assure you that the app is safe to use. Your login details are not stored and they're encrypted during the connection process. Your banking information is available as read-only data, and it doesn't allow transactions. Here's more information about the app's security.

This launch is just the beginning. We still have a lot more to do. Our mission is to build an app that will change more people's lives. Improve financial literacy. Reduce the underbanked. And empower more people to make better decisions with their money.

I am keen for you to check it out and let us know what you think about the app and how we can improve it to better serve you by leaving a review in your App Store. I'll personally reply to your review.

Here's the link to download it in the Apple App Store and in the Google Play Store.
