More Moogles for less mula.
Final Fantasy XIV has had a long and turbulent history, to say the least. When the MMO originally launched back in 2010, fans and critics alike were so disappointed by what they played that developer Square Enix ended up giving everyone 90 days of free play time before ultimately shutting the game down in 2012. All was not lost, though, as Square Enix came back with Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, a completely revamped version of the game that fixed many of its predecessor's problems. This time, the MMO delivered on its promise of delivering a rich, persistent Final Fantasy world for players to adventure through, and since A Realm Reborn's launch in 2013, the game has seen more than 6 million subscribers join its ranks.
That number is set to grow even bigger with the launch of Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood for PC and PS4. As the follow-up to 2015's Heavensward expansion pack, Stormblood brings a raft of new features to Final Fantasy XIV sure to excite new and old players alike. Beyond standard improvements like increasing the level cap to 70 and adding in a bunch of new quests, Stormblood gives players the ability to swim and dive into bodies of water, which will be of critical importance when exploring the expansion's many new areas such as the pirate-infested Ruby Sea and the mysterious continent of Othard.
If that wasn't enough, Stormblood expands Final Fantasy XIV's job system with two brand new roles: Red Mage and Samurai. Red Mages are all about speed and agility, swooping in to attack their enemies with rapiers before leaping out of range and unleashing their devastating Red Magic. Samurai, meanwhile, focus on doling out massive damage with their deadly katanas and powerful sword arts. Coupled with a retooled battle system and a host of fresh enemies to fight, Stormblood offers plenty of reasons for lapsed players to return to the resilient MMO.
While Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood might not be out until June 20th, you can already snag yourself a decent bargain on the promising expansion. Here are the best deals on Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood in Australia:
