You can acquire a single, duo or family travel insurance policy. A single policy covers an individual and their dependents while duo covers the two travellers only and not their dependents. Family travel cover accommodates the entire family regardless of size.

  • You act irresponsibly by refusing to protect yourself or your items in order to avoid making a claim.
  • You do not try to reduce your losses.
  • Your policy was acquired when fully aware of a situation that would lead you to make a claim.
  • Your claim can be recovered by other compensation plans such as workers compensation, medical benefits and others.
  • Your claim is as a result of your errors or omissions.
  • Your claim is as a result of illegal actions.
  • Your claim is as a result of your personal property being confiscated, detained or even destroyed by government agents.
  • Your claim is as a result of using a motorcycle without proper documentation or an Australian license.
  • Your claim is as a result of using a scooter or moped without a valid Australian drivers license.
  • Your claim is related to a likely or actual pandemic or epidemic.
  • Your claim is related to a pandemic or epidemic threat.
  • Your claim was as a result of your ignorance to warnings from the media, government agencies and other official governing bodies. These warning may have been against travelling to a certain part of the country, about a strike, civil unrest, riots, bad weather or a contagious disease. The claim will not be considered if you failed to take necessary action to minimise or avoid potential harm and this includes travel delays.
  • Your claim is as a result of an act of war, insurrection, rebellion, revolution or military take-over.
  • Your claim is as a result of a reaction or contamination from radioactivity or nuclear weapons.
  • Your claim is as a result of chemical and/or biological compounds, substances or materials that were used directly or indirectly to harm human life, create public fear or destroy humans.

Who is Eligible to Apply for the Fast Cover Domestic Travel Plan?

Like any other insurance policy, you need to meet the eligibility requirements in order to acquire the Fast Cover domestic travel plan. The travel insurance policy is only available for Australian residents. This is a domestic insurance travel plan which means that it only covers trips within the country with the inclusion of Thursday Island.

There are age limits with this travel plan and these are made on the date that the certificate of insurance is issued. Travellers of all ages are eligible for the Fast Cover domestic travel insurance plan. Travellers aged above 80 years old will however be required to pay excess with claims that are related to sickness or injury. The excess charges are as follows: $2000 for travellers aged between 80 and 89 years and $5000 for travellers above the age of 90.

Steps to make a Fast Cover Travel Insurance claim;

  • Fast Cover requires that you make your claim as soon as possible using their claim form which is available online. In fact, you risk having your claim reduced if you decide to delay on making the claim.
  • Your claim cannot be processed unless the claim form is fully completely.
  • You need to provide Fast Cover with all information requested to support your claim. This includes but is not limited to medical reports, valuations, police reports as well as proof of ownership.
  • You are required to co-operate with Fast Cover during the duration of claim and must provide any information that may be useful in processing your claim.
  • When seeking claims for theft or loss of personal effects and/or luggage, you are required to report the matter to the police immediately. You will also need to provide a written notice of the report.
  • Those seeking claims for misplaced or damaged personal effects and luggage caused by an accommodation provider or airline, it is required that you report the matter to the relevant official and obtain a report as well. The written report should include settlement offers made by any providers and this needs to be submitted within 30 days after you trip. You must not admit liability.
  • All claims are paid in AUD and depreciation will be factored in as determined by Fast Cover.
