As a fashion writer, these are the boxing day sales I’m holding out for

Alexandra Hourigan 8 December 2017 NEWS

If there is one thing I know, it's shopping. So when it comes to sales, these are the ones I'm going to be hitting this boxing day.

After Christmas, we all need a little something to boost our spirits. With all the spending on other people we need to take the time to actually get ourselves a present to us from us. What better day than boxing day? It's been famous for it's crazy sales for longer than I can even remember and for good reason too. Whether it's a site wide sale or adding numerous items to their sale category, it's time to shop. But what for?

Well, as a fashion writer, I do know what I keep my eyes on. I have the horrible affliction of struggling to wear things more than once and I'm prone to good old fashion shoppers high. The whole day can also get pretty overwhelming but fear not, I've got your back. Take a leaf out of my book and embrace your inner shopaholic with all the things I'll be buying this boxing day.

Clothes - because I'm tired of screaming I have nothing to wear

Look, we've all been there. Half our wardrobe is on the floor, mascara is running down our face and we're currently texting our friend that we're not coming out anymore. Personally, i think I've lived this reality more times than I'm comfortable to admit even though I most definitely have something I could probably wear. Regardless, trends come and go and as the fashionista I like to think I am, I intend to take advantage of the sales on boxing day. So many clothing stores have sitewide sales or add huge amounts of clothes to sale, so why pay full price? That's just silly.

Swimwear - cause summer ain't over yet!

I'll be honest with you. Im a complete sucker for swimwear. Every year I buy a bundle of styles from one pieces to bikinis and it's a habit that I don't intend to stop soon. So in order to make my wallet not want to murder me in my sleep, Boxing Day is the shopping even where I plan to purchase this seasons line and strut my stuff on the beach with the gorgeous Australian summer.

Shoes, shoes and more shoes

Don't ask me why, but sometimes (translation: all the time) I go into these shoe phases. I want sneakers, heels, sandals, sliders, you name it and my life depends on getting it. Plus, 2017 has been a HUGE shoe year with so many trends coming out and I'm living for it. Therefore, when these shoes go on sale you better know I'm going to get around it and not just summer style either. Take the opportunity to invest in a good pair of boots as most will be on sale during the warmer seasons!0

What better way to bring in the new year with a new bag! Whether you want a new clutch or want to go all out with a brand new Gucci, the world is your oyster. If you're just after a standard black or brown leather then you have multiple options to choose from. If you're looking for something that stands out more, Pantone's colour of the year for 2018 is Ultra Violet so snatching up a purple purse might be in your best interest. Personally, I'm living for the monogramming trend at the moment and the Mon Purse bags are everything I need in my life and more!

All the Makeup in the entire world

Okay, all the makeup in the entire world may be a slight exaggeration but not completely. Last year, Sephora held a massive 20% site wide sale and it's up there with the best day of my entire life. So I'll definitely be keeping a look out on their website as well as MECCA, Fresh Fragrances and Cosmetics and Cult Beauty for some amazing boxing day sales.

A new watch (or three)

Watches definitely became an upcoming trend this year and I completely loved it. Being one of the most searched items for people to shop it's definitely a contender on my list of things to snatch up. I'll definitely be having my eye on THE ICONIC who stock stunning watches and brands like The Horse.
