Everyday questions about Woolworths Everyday Rewards and Woolworths Rewards

Information verified correct on December 9th, 2016

As Woolworths Everyday Rewards has been replaced with Woolworths Rewards, find out how the upgraded rewards program works here.

Between October 2015 and August 2016, the Woolworths rewards program went through some serious changes. In 2015, Woolworths changed the Everyday Rewards program to Woolworths Rewards. The updated scheme allowed you to get money off your shopping with the supermarket giant by earning Woolworths Dollars on selected items. It also scrapped the option of earning Qantas Points for eligible spending.

Following that change and feedback from customers, Woolworths updated the program again on 31 August 2016. The current program offers 1 point per $1 spent at Woolworths supermarkets, Woolworths online, BWS and Caltex Woolworths fuel outlets. You then have the option of automatically redeeming points for money off your shopping, saving them up, or converting them to Qantas Points.

With so many changes in a short amount of time, there is still a lot of confusion around Woolworths Everyday Rewards, Woolworths Rewards and the connection to Qantas. Here, we answer some of the most common questions to help you understand how the program works and what you can do to make the most of Woolworths Rewards.

Commonly asked questions about the Woolworths Rewards scheme woolworthsrewards (1)

How can I join the Woolworths Rewards program?

You can join the Woolworths Rewards program online via the Woolworths website. You’ll just need to complete the registration form with your personal information (such as your full name and contact details) and submit it online. Once you’ve done this, you should receive your card within a few days.

What are Woolworths points?

Woolworths points are the rewards earned through the Woolworths Rewards program as of 31 August 2016.

How do you earn Woolworths points?

Woolworths points are earned when you shop at a participating Woolworths supermarkets, Woolworths online, BWS and Caltex Woolworths fuel outlets (excluding Tasmania, Star Mart and Star Shop). To earn points, scan your Woolworths Rewards card at the checkout before you make a payment. You will then get 1 point per $1 spent on eligible purchases.

What purchases will earn me Woolworths points?

Most items you buy at participating retailers will earn you $1 point per $1 spent. But no points will be earned on smoking products, gift cards, mobile recharge, Woolworths Mobile, travel cards and tickets, delivery charges, internet cafes, Carpet Care, lottery products, Woolworths Flowers and purchases using a Caltex Starcard.

How do you redeem Woolworths points?

When you have earned 2,000 Woolworths points, they will be converted to 10 Woolworths Dollars. You then have the following reward options:

  • Automatic savings. Automatically get $10 off your next shop at a Woolworths supermarket or BWS store when you spend $10 or more on eligible purchases in store or online and scan your card.
  • Bank your points. Save up your points for Christmas. If you choose this option, your points will be banked and then made available to you in increments of 10 Woolworths Dollars on 15 December 2016. For example, if you earn 10,000 points between 1 September and 15 December 2016, you would get 50 Woolworths Dollars (and $50 off your shopping at Woolworths).
  • Convert Woolworths Dollars to Qantas Points. You can choose to have the Woolworths Dollars you earn converted to Qantas frequent flyer points. With this option, your points will be saved up in 10 Woolworths Dollar increments and automatically transferred to your Qantas Frequent Flyer membership on 15 December 2016. For reference, 2,000 Woolworths points = 10 Woolworths Dollars = 870 Qantas Points.

How many Qantas Points can I earn at Woolworths?

Note that your Woolworths Rewards account will be set up for the automatic savings option by default.

What are Woolworths Dollars?

Woolworths Dollars were the currency of the Woolworths Rewards program launched in October 2015. Each Woolworth Dollar was worth AUD$1 off a future spend at participating Woolworths Group stores.

You earned Woolworth Dollars by scanning your card when purchasing selected orange ticket items at Woolworths online, Woolworths supermarkets and BWS stores, excluding Tasmania. When you accumulated 10 Woolworth Dollars, you automatically got $10 off your next transaction in participating stores by scanning your card. As of 31 August 2016, Woolworths points will be earned on spending and can then be converted into Woolworths Dollars, with 2,000 points equalling 10 Woolworths Dollars.

How can I update my Woolworths Rewards preferences?

Select your redemption preference on or after 31 August 2016 using the following steps:

  • Log in to your account at woolworthsrewards.com.au
  • Select “My Account” followed by “Redemption Settings”
  • Follow the prompts to choose your rewards option

How does the Woolworths Rewards and Qantas Frequent Flyer partnership work?

In order to redeem Woolworths points/Woolworths Dollars for Qantas Points, you must be a current Qantas Frequent Flyer member and your Qantas Frequent Flyer membership must be linked to your Woolworths Rewards card. You can do this by logging in to your Woolworths Rewards account, selecting “My Account” and “Cards & accounts”, then entering your Qantas Frequent Flyer membership details. Alternatively, you can call 1300 10 1234 and select option 1 (8am–8pm on weekdays, 9am–5pm on weekends).

How often will I get Qantas Points?

If you opt to have your Woolworths Dollars converted to Qantas Points, the first conversion will happen on 15 December 2016. Points may take up to 7 days to show up in your Qantas Frequent Flyer account. After this, you'll have the option to convert your savings into Qantas Points every three months.

Is there a minimum spend to earn Woolworths points?

No. Previously, under the previous Woolworths Everyday Rewards scheme, you had to spend $30 to earn 1 Qantas Point per $1 spent. Following the 31 August 2016 updates, you will earn 1 point per $1 spent at participating Woolworths Group stores.

Is there a minimum spend to earn fuel discounts?

By spending $30 or more and scanning your rewards card during the transaction, a 4c per litre discount will be loaded on your card for use at participating Caltex Woolworths co-branded fuel outlets. The key change in 2016 is that, as of 31 August, you can earn points at Caltex Woolworths fuel outlets (excluding Tasmania, Star Mart and Star Shop) on top of what you get at Woolworths and BWS.

Are there any other perks?

The current version of the Woolworths Rewards program also provides in-store member offers and exclusive, customised bonus points and savings on your favourite products.

I forgot to swipe my Woolworths Rewards card at the checkout. Can I still earn rewards points?

No. Woolworths Rewards will not provide any points on purchases made without scanning your card, even if you've kept the receipt.

Can I order an additional card for my partner and pool the points in one account?

You can order an additional card using the following steps:

  • Log in at woolworthsrewards.com.au
  • Select “My Account”, then “Cards & accounts”
  • Scroll down to the option for “Order a new card”
  • Select “Additional card” with your rewards card number from the list

Alternatively, you can request an additional card by calling 1300 10 1234 and following the prompts. You’ll then receive an additional card and keytag with the same barcode as your existing rewards card so that all your points go into one account.

My partner and I have separate Woolworths Rewards accounts. Can we combine our points and continue earning rewards in the one account?

No, you can't share or transfer your points or Woolworths Dollars. But you could choose one account and order an additional card so that all future rewards are pooled.

Woolworths Rewards does allow you to link other Rewards cards to your account if you want to share fuel discounts. To do this, log in to your account and go to the “Cards & accounts” section then link your cards using their individual details.

      Hi Geoffrey,

      Thanks for your comment.

Please note that you’ve come through to finder.com.au we are an Australian financial comparison website and general information service, not actually Woolworths.

Woolworths will actually email their offers and promotions unless you’ve chosen to opt out of this in your account settings. So if your wife is not receiving these emails and she’d like to, please check the following:

      1. Make sure the email address that Woolworths have for your wife is correct. She can do this by logging into woolworthsrewards.com.au, clicking on ‘My Account’ and selecting ‘My Details’.

      2. It’s important to check that she has subscribed to their emails. She can do this in the ‘Communications’ section of the website.

      3. Finally, add Woolworths Rewards to her email contacts list to ensure Woolworths will always appear in her inbox.

      Hope this helps.

      Cheers,
