What's the Etihad baggage allowance?

The air carrier's luggage allowance for flights to and from Australia depends on your travel class. First-class baggage weight must not exceed 50kg, with the exception of Etihad Guest Class members who can receive up to 70kg. Business class passengers have a baggage weight limit of 40kg, which can go up to 60kg for Etihad Guest members. Economy class has a weight limit of 30kg with Etihad Guest members enjoying up to 50kg.

Etihad's baggage allowance policy changes depending on where you're flying to and from. Generally from Australia passengers can bring the following:

  • Economy Class: One carry-on bag up to 7kg + one checked bag up to 23kg
  • Economy Value and Economy Freedom classes: One carry-on bag up to 7kg + two checked bags up to 23kg each
  • Business Class: Two carry-on bags up to 12kg in total + two checked bags up to 32kg each
  • First Class: Two carry-on bags up to 12kg in total + two checked bags up to 32 kg each

If you're an Etihad Guest member with Platinum, Gold or Silver status, you're entitled to additional baggage allowance. Silver members can bring one additional bag up to 23kg, and Gold and Platinum members can bring one additional bag up to 32kg.

How do I manage an Etihad booking?

To access your booking, click this link here. You can also go to Etihad's website and hover over "Before you fly" on the yellow bar at the top of the page. A menu will appear. Click on "Manage by booking" for a form to appear where you can enter your booking reference and last name. Click "retrieve booking" to begin the process.

How do I check an Etihad flight status?

To check a flight status, click this link here. You can also go to Etihad's website and hovering over "Before you fly" on the yellow bar at the top of the page. A menu will appear. Click on "Flight status". When the page reloads, you can enter the departure date and then choose to search by flight number or the origin and destination. Alternatively, you might be able to check the flight status on your departing or arriving airport's website.

How do I use Etihad online check in?

You can use the Etihad web check-in system anywhere from 24 hours to two hours prior to departure.

To begin the process, click this link here. You can also access it by going to the Etihad website and hovering over "Before you fly" on the yellow bar at the top of the page. A menu will appear. Click on "Check-in online". After clicking on that, a form will appear where you'll need to enter your surname, departure city, form of identification (this can be a booking reference number, frequent flyer number or e-ticket number). Click check-in to begin the process.

What's the Etihad in-flight entertainment like?

The E-Box entertainment system features more than 120 movies (a combination of new releases and classics from around the world), 250 TV shows, box sets of popular dramas, seven live TV channels, music and radio stations and up to 60 interactive games.

Does Etihad have Wi-Fi?

Etihad also offers in-flight Wi-Fi on select planes. Packages start at $5 for 30 minutes of access. You can also use your phone at an international roaming rate, including use of data and making phone calls.

Does Etihad serve alcohol?

Yes, Etihad offers complimentary beer, wine, spirits and soft drinks on its flights.

Is there an Etihad frequent flyer program?

Is Etihad part of oneworld or Star Alliance?

No. Etihad isn't part of either airline alliance.

Do Etihad A380s fly to Australia?

Yes. Etihad uses A380s for flights from Sydney and Melbourne to Abu Dhabi. Flights departing from Perth may also be operated using the jumbo jets if booked as connections through either Sydney or Melbourne.

How does the Etihad chauffeur program work?

Passengers travelling in First or Business Class with Etihad are entitled to a free chauffeur service in more than 40 cities around the world. In Australia, the service is available in Sydney (up to 50km from the airport), Perth (up to 50km from the airport), and Melbourne (up to 80km from the airport). The service needs to be requested at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled flight time. It's not available to passengers who have booked a Business Breaking Deal or other discounted tickets.

How do Etihad changes and cancellations work?

Etihad accepts refund requests but will charge a refund administration fee, which is applied to all tickets purchased through their online site, global contact centres and Etihad retail offices. The refund administration fee applies to all ticket zones and will be deducted when processing the refund. There are exemptions to this administration fee. You can view these exemptions online. The refund administration fee is deducted in addition to other applicable penalties.

Refunds are made using the original payment method and these are usually processed within 12 months of departure for both partially used and unused tickets.

      HI,
      Again I look at 35% discount off Etihad flights but they are the same as the Etihad site.
      I can’t see a promo code anywhere. This is a bit misleading as same price.

    Round the world fares from perth

      Hi Chris,

      While we don’t sell flights directly, we can definitely point you in the right direction.

      If you’re looking for a round-the-world fare from Perth, Etihad does not sell ’round-the-world’ tickets, but it does allow you to purchase a multi-city ticket with up to six flights/routes of your choice included.

      A few other places you could look are Helloworld and STA Travel.
