The absolute essentials from the Jean Paul Gaultier x Target collection

Fashion girls everywhere jumped for joy when it was announced months ago that Jean Paul Gaultier would be collaborating with Target to release an exclusive apparel and homewares collection. We got a sneak peek of the pieces from the collection a few weeks ago and it did nothing to curb the excitement. Finally, today the collection was released online and in store and we can at last shop the pieces we've been coveting for weeks!

The collection had a clear nautical theme, the pieces are clean, distinct and classic. Breton striped tees, tailored blazers and denim make up the base of the collection but there are also more distinctive and individual pieces. A satin bustier dress and overalls sit along side edgy lace-up boots, leather skirts and biker jackets. Jean Paul Gaultier's love of signature prints comes through the collection with a number of exciting and dynamic patterned fabrics used to make shirts, tees, leggings and dresses. Metal hardware is also a common theme across the collection with many dresses and tees adorned with grungy zippers and belts.

The collection represents the Jean Paul Gaultier aesthetic to a tee. And with a price point of under $100 (with the exception of the leather pieces which are made from genuine leather), is there any wonder that we're all so excited?

Scroll through to see our essential picks from the collection. It doesn't take much to transform your wardrobe: only a few carefully selected statement items and basics will expand your outfit potential. Just a few of these key pieces have the ability to recreate the way you dress.

We've also included a few top picks from the homewares section. The beautifully designed kitchen and living pieces are the perfect way to inject style and flair into your home. Once you see them you'll understand. Trust us, you will never be more desperate for a cheese platter in your life.
