Energi is a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) protocol that offers a number of decentralised financial solutions. Built on its own blockchain, Energi adopts smart contracts native to Ethereum and combines them with a self-funding treasury and a completely autonomous, community-based governance system. Energi uses substantial masternodes (40% of the network’s tokens being held in these) to operate the economic side of the network by validating transactions. As it incorporates a number of elements from the Ethereum protocol, decentralised applications can be integrated with Energi. An example of this is Energiswap, the decentralised exchange (DEX) that allows users to swap and provide liquidity to a vast number of popular token pairs. As of July 2021, Energi’s operation has expanded to include a global team of over 60 people. NRG is the utility token of the Energi network and is used for economic stability, transactions, staking and governance.
