Emirates unveils revamped Business Class on 777 Boeing aircraft
The airline welcomes a roomier Business Class cabin with a new 2-2-2 configuration.
Emirates Business Class travellers can look forward to more spacious seats and a new social mini-bar following the redesign of the cabin on the 777-200LR Boeing jets.
The previous Emirates 777-200LR were configured in a 2-3-2 format, meaning that the unlucky person in the middle seat of each row didn’t have direct aisle access. The 777-200LR Business Class seats are now organised in a 2-2-2 configuration, giving all travellers easy access to the aisle and a roomier business experience.
Unfortunately, this new layout is only available to Emirates 10 Boeing 777-200LR jets, so you’ll have to settle for the older configuration on other 777 Business Class flights. For example, when Emirates announced the new generation of its 777s in November 2017, it also had a 2-3-2 configuration.
The new Business Class seat on the 777-200LR has a pitch of 72 inches (slightly smaller than the 700-300ER which has a pitch of 78 inches) and can be moved into a fully-flat sleeping position, which will make it easier to get some shut-eye on those long flights. Each seat also comes with touchscreen controls for the seat and entertainment system, which includes a 23-inch screen. You can customise your flight experience with personal lighting options, privacy panels between seats, a shoe stowage area, footrest and a personal mini-bar.
Similar to the seats unveiled for the new 777 late last year, the seats will boast a champagne-coloured finished and diamond stitch pattern on the full-leather cover with ergonomically designed headrests.
As well as roomier seats, the redesign also includes a new social area with a self-service mini bar including water, snacks, fruit and magazines, which will come in handy if you want to stretch your legs. Unlike some other business class in-flight bars (such as the Qantas A380), this area doesn’t come with a lounge where you can relax outside of your seat during the flight.
The entire business class cabin should also have a more spacious feel thanks to the removal of central overhead bins.
Economy class seats on the 777-200LR have also been touched up with the latest colour palette of soft greys and blues. You can also enjoy a comfier Economy experience with ergonomically designed seats with full leather headrests with flexible side channels. You can also make use of Wi-Fi and live TV regardless of whether you’re travelling in Economy or Business.
th
The redesign is part of a US$150 million refurbishment project with Emirates’ updated 777-200LR aircraft taking off from 6 March 2018 to Fort Lauderdale.
