Editor’s favourite products from August 2018

Posted: 31 August 2018 9:30 am

This month we said goodbye to winter and hello to a whole lot of goodies.

Alas, winter for 2018 is done. It's been a year of fabulous trends with teddy coats, white boots and a whole lot of shopping!

Even though the season is over it's time to move forward into spring fashion and also look at the amazing goodies we picked up over the last month.

August saw the 24-hour sale of AfterYAY Day, which had loads of crazy sales. We also discovered some new beauty favourites after an abundance of reviews, including a product that will make doing your wing liner easier than ever. No, I'm not lying.

Keep scrolling for all the hottest monthly favourites from August 2018.

Monthly Favourites:

1. Mon Purse Small Purse Wallet

Where to buy: Mon Purse

I genuinely believe this is one of the best purchases I've ever made.

If you're someone who really can't stand carrying around a big chunky wallet then listen up. After coming to the sudden realisation that I really don't need 20 different loyalty cards in my wallet and I really only ever carry the necessary cards, I bought the small purse wallet from Mon Purse. This was the best thing I've ever done.

I can fit a number of cards in it as well as some cash and coins. It's subtly light and doesn't take up a whole chunk of room. It's a real game changer, that's for sure!

2. Leopard print midi skirt

Where to buy: Dissh

We're kind of on a midi skirt madness this month. We were obsessed with a forest green midi skirt from AfterYAY Day. On the same day, we came across a leopard print version.

So what did I do when I liked two skirts in the exact same style? I bought both of them with absolutely ZERO regret. Paired with a singlet or T-shirt and some boots, this is on point.

The cut and style of this dress is honestly so flattering. With an elasticised waist it fits to your body shape, so if you're in between sizing I'd recommend sizing down.

3. Olivella hand cream

Where to buy: Priceline

I have ridiculously dry skin. Winter just makes it worse.

So after three months of cold wind that would give Antarctica a run for its money, my hands have seen better days.

When the Olivella hand cream landed on my desk I instantly wanted to try it and boy oh boy, I'm so glad I did. Not only did it save my already damaged and dry skin but it kept it in great condition for 48 hours before I really felt the need to apply again. In my books, that's a win.

4. Boohoo dark distressed denim jeans

Where to buy: Boohoo

I never thought I'd see the day when I was "over" mom jeans. The baggy denim just hasn't been doing it for me lately.

So when I consulted my wardrobe and saw I had a drastically low amount of skinny jeans I went in the search of some trendy but affordable jeans. Luckily enough, I came across these dark denim jeans from Boohoo.

I'd always been a bit of a jeans snob and only bought expensive brands, but thought I'd give these pants the benefit of the doubt. I am so glad that I did. They honestly feel the same as all my more expensive jeans and look just as good. The best part? They're ridiculously affordable!

5. Mini hoop earrings pack

Where to buy: Cotton On

Statement earrings are the trend of 2018 and I'm so on the bandwagon it's not even funny. However, I just don't feel like big earrings suit me. I have a small face and they just tend to look a little bit silly on me.

Therefore, when I came across this mini hoop earring pack from Cotton On I instantly fell in love. The earrings aren't overbearing and are the perfect size for statement earrings that are great for everyday wear. The hoop is between the size of a 5 and 10 cent coin to give you an idea and with 4 earrings at an affordable price, you can bet I'm buying.

6. The Quick Flick Eyeliner

Where to buy: Princess Polly

If you missed our full Quick Flick Eyeliner review then let me give you the short version.

This product is literally the bomb. If you suffer "eyeliner anxiety" like I do or you just can't deal when it comes to makeup, this product is a godsend.

The Quick Flick Eyeliner is a stamp and pen eyeliner that allows you to stamp a black and even wing on the side of your eye. It takes all the hassle out of doing your eyeliner, simple as that. The formula is also one of the best I've tried and will not budge for the entire day.

7. Denim cycle shorts

Where to buy:

Lets just start with a "don't knock it till you try it", shall we?

Cycle shorts weren't really my type of thing when they came out. However, denim cycle shorts are a different story. In reality, these bad boys are just 3/4 shorts but I never really appreciated them until now.

With cycle shorts being such a hot trend, these denim shorts are definitely going to be the look of summer, so I decided to get in quick. Not only are they really flattering but being longer, the shorts are incredibly comfortable and perfect for those warmer months coming in soon.

8. Adidas Stan Smith sneaker

Where to buy: Luisa via Roma

Being winter, the last three months has been all about boots. Coming into spring now, I've rediscovered my love for sneakers and I'm so happy I did.

In my opinion, you really can't go past a pair of Stan Smith sneakers. These are the only style of sneaker you need to concern yourself with.

While they're on the pricier end of the scale, they will really last you an extended period and if you're like me, you'll get a hell of a lot of wear out them.

9. Green lace bodysuit

Where to buy: Hello Molly

Red was easily the colour of 2017. Now, forest green has taken the top spot this year and is the colour of 2018.

This forest green lace bodysuit ties in two incredibly big trends together. The green gives this bodysuit a unique spin compared to the abundance of black bodysuits on the market. Plus, if the lace detailing doesn't make you completely swoon then what would?

10. ALYA Skin Pink Clay mask

Where to buy: Priceline

I loved this mask so much after a couple goes that it became a Beauty Product of the Week in August.

If you love a clay mask then seriously this is one to definitely try out. Our full review of the ALYA skin clay mask showed just how amazing this mask truly is.

Australian made and premium quality, this mask will effectively refine pores and clear your skin. I literally saw results after one use. If that doesn't scream magic then I don't know what does.
