Earn more Qantas Points when you shop with your faves

Qantas Frequent Flyer launches “My Card Offers”, a new tailored rewards scheme that will help you earn more points based on your spending habits.

Qantas Frequent Flyer is trialling a new retail rewards experience that will give you the chance to earn bonus Qantas Points when you shop with your favourite retailers. The new rewards scheme will be based on your previous shopping habits and card spend, so it’ll be tailored to help you maximise your points.

Members with a Mastercard debit or credit card will be able to link their card to their frequent flyer account and receive My Card Offers via email each week. Each email will contain up to seven tailored offers, showing frequent flyers where they can pick up the most rewards that week.

“Working with Mastercard, we’re able to understand more about our members’ shopping habits so we can send them tailored offers they’re more likely to use,” said a spokesperson from Qantas. “It also makes it quicker for consumers to cut through all the discounts and deals... and encourage them to try shopping somewhere new, and get rewarded for doing so.”

So, if you’ve recently shopped with a female fashion retailer, you’ll receive offers in the same category. This means that you’ll receive different bonus points offers depending on your individual spending habits. As bonus points usually go, they’re in addition to the Qantas Points you’d usually earn with your Mastercard, so you can "double dip" when you shop.

Qantas has recruited 300,000 frequent flyers and 30 retailers for the My Card Offers trial. Partnered retailers range from fashion and beauty to home, sport and leisure, so there will be plenty of rewards to suit different types of cardholders.

With Black Friday coming up, Qantas is launching this initiative to help cardholders get the most points value out of this peak spending period.

“Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Christmas are busy retail periods, so we hope members will make the most of the trial during the peak shopping season and provide us with valuable feedback in preparation for the official launch next year,” said Qantas.

Qantas Frequent Flyer will be seeking feedback from the members involved in the trial before the full launch in April 2018.
