Dyson’s new Supersonic attachment tackles our biggest hair complaint
The latest addition to Dyson's iconic hair dryer promises to eliminate flyaways in seconds.
If you're anything like me, a single drop of moisture in the air will quickly turn your cute 'do into a frizzy mess.
With flyaways proving to be one of the most difficult hair concerns to combat though, hair tool experts at Dyson have stepped in with a new hair dryer attachment that promises to change your styling game for good.
Announced in Australia today, the Supersonic Flyaway attachment harnesses the Coanda effect to effectively tame unruly hair.
First engineered for styling within the Dyson Airwrap styler, the Coanda effect uses airflow to attract and lift longer hair to the front, while a second jet pushes shorter, damaged pieces through the tresses and out of sight.
The end result is silky smooth strands and enhanced hair shine, without the damage that comes from the application of a hot hair tool.
How to use the Supersonic Flyaway attachment
As with most of Dyson's products, the Flyaway attachment is both incredibly time-efficient and easy to use.
We've broken down how to use it below.
- Starting at the top of the head, hold the Flyaway attachment close to the hair until strands attract.
- Slowly run the attachment lengthways down each section of hair.
- To style the back of the head, rotate the attachment 45 degrees to achieve a smooth, even style.
Dyson recommends using the Flyaway attachment on a high speed, low heat setting.
However, it also suggests using a higher heat for thicker hair and a cold setting for finer hair.
Supersonic pricing and availability
The Dyson Supersonic Flyaway attachment is available from today both individually and with the purchase of new Supersonic hair dryers.
The attachment is priced at $99, while the Supersonic hair dryer with accompanying attachments retails for $599.
You can shop the products at the Dyson online store.
Dyson Global Styling Ambassador, Jen Atkin, said of the new release, "I think we can all agree that flyaway frustration is real! Nothing feels as good as that salon blow dry finish.
"The trick to tame annoying flyaways is a core skill for a stylist. However, we want our clients to now be able to get that same glossy finish at home.
"Dyson's latest attachment does exactly that – it allows smooth seekers to get a super sleek finish, on their own, not just from the salon."
