Calling all Simpsons fans: the world’s first Duff Beer is about to hit Australia, and it’s actually a decent brew.
We’re not even kidding.
Duff Beer, that holy nectar that keeps Homer Simpson going from dusk til dawn, is coming to Australia. This is a world first. Sure, you might have picked up the odd “imitation” Duff Beer in Europe somewhere, but this is the first officially sanctioned, carefully brewed, premium lager from Matt Groening and friends (otherwise known as “the people who created the Duff brand”).
And Australia gets it first. Like a friend of mine said, “This is the greatest thing to happen to Australia since the Olympics.”
“When that guy turned water into wine, he obviously wasn’t thinking of us Duff drinkers.” – Homer Simpson
You can get a taste of Duff when the Woolloomooloo Bay Hotel goes full Springfield and has Duff Beer on tap. Any Simpsons fans will be able to spot the references to Moe's Tavern (right down to the green-and-orange diamond windows), and yes, you can get a Krusty Burger. They're just as good as you've always dreamed. Get your #DuffBeer hashtags ready.
So what does Duff Beer actually taste like? It's a premium, golden ale that tastes a lot better than you might expect from something that found life in a cartoon. Beer aficionados will appreciate the caramel aromatics and a hint of fruit, but for everyone else, it tastes good. Not too specialty, not too middle-of-the-road. A crowd-pleaser beer.
Say it with me now: “Duffman. OHHH YEAAAAH.”
Duff Beer will be on tap at the Woolloomooloo Bay Hotel from the 23rd–30th May, before hitting Dan Murphy’s stores on 28th May.
At Dan Murphy's, a six-pack of the Duff will set you back $17, or a case will retail for $45. You’d be silly not to, really. Listen to the wise words of Homer: "No beer and no TV make Homer go crazy."
Here, Homer. Have another Duff.
