Dodo launches the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3
You can now purchase Alcatel OneTouch's latest Android handset on a plan or outright through Dodo.
Dodo has launched the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 phone for outright sale and on a 24 -month contract. Outright, the Idol 3 will cost you $379.00, but if you're looking to absorb some of that cost into your monthly plan, the Idol 3 will cost an additional $10 on Dodo's 4G Lite ($17.90) and 4G Big ($29.90) plans. If you opt for the 4G Mega ($39.90) or 4G Ultra ($49.90) plans Dodo will bundle the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 for no additional charge.
Though Alcatel OneTouch is more commonly known for their "simple phones", with large classic keypads, and extra loud ringtones, the Idol 3 on specifications alone is actually quite a decent smartphone for the price. We're currently running the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 through its paces and will update with a full review shortly.
The Idol 3 doesn't quite match other premium Android phablets like the Nexus 6P or Galaxy S6 Edge +, but then it's not priced like them either. Its 13MP camera, Snapdragon 615 chipset and affordable price tag make it a solid competitor for other mid-tier Androids, like the Huawei P8 Lite or Oppo R7.
The Alcatel Idol 3's stand-out feature is that it reversible, which Alcatel claims is a world first for smartphones. The Alcatel has both a microphone and speaker at either end of the handset, and switches between the two depending on the orientation of the handset.
