Toy Story 4 rumoured to arrive on Disney+ in early February
Missed it in cinemas? You'll soon be able to catch up with the entire Toy Story franchise in one place.
When Disney+ launched back in November, it came with an already generous library of content. And yet, dedicated fans noted that some titles were missing. Not surprisingly, those included recent releases like the live action The Lion King, Aladdin and Toy Story 4.
While both Aladdin and The Lion King are making their way to the new streaming service this January, there had been no news about when Toy Story 4 might arrive. At least, not until recently. According to What's on Disney Plus, a video released recently, apparently by mistake, established the Disney+ release date for Toy Story 4 to be 5 February 2020.
That's supposed to be the US release date but if the rumour is true, we should expect the movie to become available on Disney+ in Australia around that time as well. Toy Story 4 premiered in cinemas in June 2019 and was released on DVD back in October, so February fits in with Disney's usual release schedule.
The movie, which is the fourth instalment in the Toy Story franchise, follows Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the rest of the gang as they embark on a road trip with Bonnie and a new toy named Forky. This leads to a reunion with old friend Bo Peep, among other adventures. Toy Story 4 was a critical and box office hit, ultimately becoming the sixth highest-grossing film of 2019.
Other Toy Story titles on Disney+
If you're craving a recap before the new flick arrives on Disney+, all three previous instalments are on the streaming service. You can also watch the delightful series of shorts Forky Asks a Question, based on the breakout character of Forky. Bo Peep is also getting her own short film, Lamp Life, following her endeavours between Toy Story 2 and 4. This is expected to arrive on Disney+ on 31 January.
Streaming service Disney+ offers subscribers a wide variety of content from not only the Disney vault, but also subsidiaries like Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar and National Geographic. You can watch a great collection of superhero movies, Disney Channel series and original productions exclusive to the platform. That list includes hit show The Mandalorian, which was the talk of the Internet in 2019.
Subscriptions to Disney+ costs $8.99/month. New clients get a free seven-day trial.
