Obi-Wan, Marvel, sequels and remakes: Disney Plus confirms news for 30+ titles

A Baymax trailer! Premiere dates galore! An Obi-Wan sizzle reel! And so much more.
Disney Plus Day was a bona fide worldwide celebration. First off, Disney Plus subscribers got to enjoy a whole slate of new content – including Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings, Jungle Cruise, Dopesick and Home Sweet Home Alone. Plus, the entertainment giant released news, first looks and features about dozens of upcoming projects. Turns out, there's plenty to get hyped about in the next few months or, in some cases, years. Here's all the news you might have missed on Disney Plus Day, organised by subsidiaries.
Lucasfilm
- Obi-Wan Kenobi – Star Wars fans can enjoy an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming live-action series scheduled to debut in 2022 on Disney Plus.
- Willow – enjoy a Meet the Cast featurette of the Lucasfilm series, a sequel to the 1988 film of the same name. It will premiere in 2022.
Marvel
- Marvel released a Disney Plus Day special featuring a first look at upcoming series Moon Knight, She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel. Ms. Marvel is set to premiere in winter 2022, the other 2 will come out sometime next year as well.
- We got new logos for several upcoming Marvel series.
- Marvel animated series What If…? will return for season 2.
- X-Men: The Animated Series is getting a revival, X-Men '97, which will arrive in 2023.
- Disney confirmed Hawkeye spin-off series Echo and WandaVision spin-off series Agatha: House of Darkness. Echo will star Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez, who will be introduced in Hawkeye, while Kathryn Hahn will reprise her role as Agatha Harkness from WandaVision.
- We're getting 2 more animated series set in the Marvel Universe. Spider-Man: Freshman Year will follow Peter Parker on his way to becoming Spider-Man in the MCU, while Marvel Zombies re-imagines the Marvel Universe under threat from a zombie apocalypse.
Pixar
- You can watch the Pixar 2021 Disney+ Day Special for a quick look at what's to come from Pixar on Disney Plus.
- Feature-length documentaries about the making of Pixar films Turning Red and Lightyear are coming to Disney Plus in 2022.
- Owen Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy return to voice Lightning McQueen and Mater in the original series Cars on the Road, streaming in 2022.
- Pixar's first-ever original long-form animated series, Win or Lose, arrives on Disney Plus in spring 2023 (first-look image).
Disney
- Tiana – a new long-form musical series, directed and written by Stella Meghie, will arrive on Disney Plus in 2023. The series follows Tiana (The Princess and the Frog), newly crowned Princess of Maldonia on a new adventure (first-look image).
- Zootopia fans: the brand new short-form series set in the Zootopia universe, Zootopia+, is coming in 2022.
- The Spiderwick Chronicles, a new live-action original series based on the bestselling books, is in production.
- High School Musical: The Musical: The Series will return with season 3 in 2022.
- The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder – original animated series, based on the Disney Channel series from the 2000s, arrives in February 2022 (watch trailer).
- New original movie Sneakerella (a play on Cinderella) premieres on 18 February (watch trailer).
- Disney's live-action retelling of Pinocchio, starring Tom Hanks, Cynthia Erivo, Luke Evans and the voices of Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Keegan-Michael Key and Lorraine Bracco is coming spring 2022.
- Disney shared a first look at Hocus Pocus 2, which will premiere in 2022 (see full image).
- Better Nate than Ever, an original movie streaming in autumn 2022, stars Aria Brooks, Michelle Federer, Rueby Wood, Norbert Leo Butz, Lisa Kudrow and Joshua Basset.
- Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers, an original movie starring Andy Samberg and John Mulaney, will arrive in autumn 2022.
- You can watch the first clip from The Beatles Get Back, a 3-part documentary event premiering 25 November (watch clip).
- Original animated movie Diary of a Wimpy Kid premieres 3 December.
- A new animated movie from the Diary of a Wimpy Kid franchise, Rodrick Rules, is in production.
- Disenchanted, the sequel to beloved movie Enchanted (now on Disney Plus) will premiere in spring 2022.
- Cheaper by the Dozen, an original movie starring Gabrielle Union and Zach Braff, premieres in March 2022.
- Original series Baymax (from Big Hero 6) arrives in winter 2022 (trailer below).
- The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild premieres 28 January (watch trailer).
National Geographic
- America the Beautiful, new series from National Geographic, streaming in 2022 (watch trailer).
- Welcome to Earth – National Geographic series hosted by Will Smith, all episodes drop on 8 December (watch trailer).
- Limitless with Chris Hemsworth – new series hosted by Chris Hemsworth arrives in 2022.
Star
- Rosaline – A fresh comedic twist on Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet, which tells the story from the perspective of Juliet's cousin Rosaline, will premiere in 2022. It stars Kaitlyn Dever (first-look image).
- The Princess – an action movie set in a fairy tale world, starring Joey King as a young royal who must save her kingdom from ruthless mercenaries. Arrives in winter 2022 (first-look image).
- Prey – a new entry in the Predator franchise, Prey will premiere in winter 2022. The action-thriller follows Naru, the skilled warrior who fiercely protects her tribe against a highly evolved alien predator (first-look image).
- No Exit – Disney shared a first-look image at this action-thriller starring Havana Rose Liu as a young woman stuck at a highway rest area with a group of strangers during a blizzard. It premieres in 2022 (first-look image).
