Dior is the next brand to expand its foundation shade range

With 29 shades, Dior's new foundation is its biggest yet.

No matter who did it first, 2017 has been the year for expanded foundation shade ranges. There was the 40 shade strong Fenty Beauty foundation, the 30 shades of #FauxFilter foundation from Huda Beauty and most recently NARS dropped 33 shades as well.

But now it's time for some of the designer brands to follow suit, with Dior leading the charge. The brand's new Forever Undercover foundation takes inspiration from the brand's Forever Undercover concealer and will debut with 29 shades – aiming to suit as many skin tones as possible.

We're so excited to see a designer brand make the effort to expand its shade range, especially given the push for diversity and inclusion in the makeup community this year.

The formulation and consistency of the foundation are lightweight and matte, but it's buildable and can produce 24-hour full coverage if you need it to – so it's perfect for an Aussie summer when you want something light that'll still get the job done even after sweating through the day!

And a little reportedly goes a long way, so much so that the dispenser is far smaller than usual to ensure you only get a tiny bit at a time. This is always a welcome inclusion when it comes to designer brands because it gives us some longevity to justify the higher price tag.

According to an Instagram post from @trendmood1, the foundation doesn't even need to be set with a powder – it's just ready to go when you are! It's a pretty big call to make, especially given our love affair with setting powder, but it's definitely a claim that's worth putting to the test.

Where can you buy it?

The foundation line isn't available just yet. You can get your hands on other gorgeous Dior products (including the Forever Undercover concealer that inspired the range) at David Jones, Myer and even StrawberryNET if you feel like shopping online.

Keep an eye out for the foundation to drop in the coming months because we're anticipating an early 2018 release. Most guesses place the launch around January, so we're expecting it here in Australia not long after!

In the meantime, keep an eye out for @finderstyle on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for more news!
