Diners Club and Qantas Announce Frequent Flyer Partnership

Information verified correct on April 28th, 2017

Earn frequent flyer points by applying for a Diners Club card thanks to new partnership with Qantas.

The launch of a new rewards credit card from Diners Club now means cardholders can take advantage of added value on purchases made on the card. A World MasterCard is also linked to the same account, offering you even more opportunity to earn points.

There is also a difference in the number of points you're able to earn with each card. If you're keen to maximise how many points you earn you can use your Diners Club card to pay for purchases. If you're at an outlet that doesn't accept Diners Club payments, you can still use your MasterCard and know you're earning points anyway.

How many Qantas Points can I earn with Diners Club?

Diners Club Card

Each dollar you spend using your Diners Club Frequent Flyer card to pay for valid purchases will earn you 1.5 points. This applies for the first $60,000 spent in any year. After this amount, the rate of points per dollar drops down to 1.25 points. This is easily one of the more competitive rewards earning rates available in Australia.

If you do happen to use your World MasterCard to pay for valid purchases, each dollar you spent will accumulate 1 point. Again, this applies for the first $60,000 spent per year. After this amount, you'll earn 0.75 points.

I currently have Diners Club reward points and also Qantas Frequent Flyer points available. Can I use these 2 lots of points as a single entity to use for a Qantas flight?

      Hi Geoff,

      Thanks for your question.

Just to confirm what type of Diners Club credit card do you have?

If your Diners card is a frequent flyer card, then you can transfer your points to your Qantas frequent flyer account. Once the transfer is done, you can then use your Qantas points to book flights with Qantas.

On the other hand, since we don’t have the information on what type of Diners credit card you’re currently holding, you may try logging into your Diners Club Rewards account and check if the current participating travel loyalty programs include Qantas – if it’s one of them, click “Points Transfer.”

      I hope this has helped.
