New DiDi rideshare service shaves 20% more off Sydney rides
One of the most affordable Sydney rideshares just got cheaper.
Sydneysiders can now see up to 20% slashed off their total fare thanks to DiDi rideshare's new service DiDi Saver.
That's up to 20% less than its current economy ride DiDi Express.
It achieves this by offering discounted fares in the off-peak hours between 10am and 4pm.
The good news keeps on coming with its new Lowfare Promise. If a rider finds a lower upfront fare with another rideshare provider, DiDi will double the difference. Bear in mind this is only available until 30 September.
So how does it all work?
The DiDi Saver ride is requested the same way you would book an Express service. Pop in your destination and click the Saver option during eligible hours before confirming.
You may see a slight delay in the availability of Saver rides, so if you don't have a moment to spare, DiDi recommends choosing its Express service.
To make the most of the Lowfare Promise, simply enter your destination and screenshot the exact upfront price from DiDi and the another rideshare platform before any discounts are applied. From there, take your ride with DiDi or the other rideshare platform. Then, upload the screenshots along with the your ride receipt online here.
The price promise applies to DiDi Saver and DiDi Express rides. Your trip must begin within ten minutes of the screenshots and you'll be reimbursed in the form of a voucher to be used on your next DiDi Express service.
The other rideshare platform must offer upfront pricing (ones that feature price ranges don't count) and the ride must be a private four seater. So options like UberXL and UberPool don't count.
Currently, their cheapest fares include a base rate of $2 and a booking fee of $0.55, whereas DiDi offers a base rate of $1.98 and no booking fees. To ensure you're getting the cheapest price across these platforms, be sure to look at the UberX or Ola's Prime Sedan options when comparing.
Drivers also stand to benefit from more frequent rides in off-peak periods. There is an option for drivers to check the total fare before accepting a ride.
The rideshare service is also ensuring the safety of its riders and drivers by implementing mandatory masks, social distancing and passenger caps across its platform. Check out our guide on how rideshare companies are keeping safe for the full list.
With the revision of DiDi's Share and carpool options because of COVID-19, this Saver service offers a safe and more affordable ride.
DiDi Australia general manager, Mr Lyn Ma has said, "We have seen demand for rides increasing across Sydney in the last couple of months, as Sydneysiders continue to play an important part in the economic and social recovery of the city."
