Minimum requirements for all DiDi drivers
If you're looking to start driving with DiDi in Sydney, minimum requirements apply. Drivers are required to:
- Be at least 21 years old
- Have access to a DiDi approved vehicle
- Be insured on the vehicle that you are planning to drive: Comprehensive or third party property insurance is required, but you may also want to consider specialised rideshare insurance
- Hold a full New South Wales driver's licence: Provisional (P) or Learners (L) licences are not permitted
- Have held a full driver's licence in any state or territory for at least 12 months
Documentation required
If you meet the above minimum criteria, you will be required to submit the following documentation to DiDi. This includes:
- Your driver's licence
- Additional proof of ID (birth certificate or passport)
- Your insurance documents
- Driving record
- National police check
Minimum requirements for each type of DiDi vehicle
To be considered as a DiDi driver, your vehicle must meet the following requirements. It's important to note that if your vehicle does not pass the minimum specifications for DiDi, it will likely not pass for other DiDi types.
All cars being driven for DiDi in Sydney must
- Be in excellent working condition with no cosmetic damage
- Be a maximum of 10 years old
- Not have been a taxi, ex-taxi, government or re-built vehicle
- Have at least 4 doors and at least 5 seats, including the driver's seat
- Have no more than 8 seats, including the driver's seat
- Pass a vehicle inspection
- Current registration and CTP insurance in New South Wales
- Working windows and air conditioning
- Feature no commercial branding

Rent a car

As a DiDi driver with New South Wales-accreditation, you can drive 24/7 anywhere in New South Wales that DiDi operates. DiDi launched in Sydney 16 March 2020, so hotspots specific to DiDi may not yet be established. However, these hotspots are popular to rideshare drivers across the board:

Getting paid with DiDi
In order to get paid as a DiDi driver in Sydney, you will need to provide various details. Payments are processed every week. Details you will need to provide in order to get paid include:
- Bank details. Your BSB and account number.
- ABN. Driving with DiDi in Sydney is essentially a form of running your own business, so you will need to be registered as an Australian business and have an Australian Business Number in order to receive payment.
