Minimum requirements for all DiDi drivers
If you're looking to start driving with DiDi in Melbourne, minimum requirements apply. It's essential that you as a driver must:
- Be at least 21 years old
- Have access to a DiDi approved vehicle
- Be insured on the vehicle that you are planning to drive: Comprehensive or third party property insurance is required, but you may also want to consider specialised rideshare insurance
- Hold a full Victorian driver's licence: Provisional (P) or Learners (L) licences are not permitted
- Have held a full driver's licence in any state or territory for at least 12 months
Documentation required
Provided that you meet the above criteria, you will also be required to submit the following documentation to DiDi in order to be approved as a driver. This documentation includes:
- Your driver's licence
- Additional proof of ID (birth certificate or passport)
- Your insurance documents
- Driving record
- National police check

Your vehicle must meet the following requirements to be considered for driving with DiDi in Melbourne. It's important to note that if your vehicle does not pass the minimum specifications for DiDi, it will also likely not pass for other DiDi types.
All cars being driven for DiDi in Melbourne must
- Be in excellent working condition with no cosmetic damage
- Not have been a taxi, ex-taxi, government or re-built vehicle
- Have at least 4 doors and at least 5 seats, including the driver's seat
- Have no more than 8 seats, including the driver's seat
- Pass a roadworthiness vehicle inspection
- Be a maximum of 10 years old
- Current registration and CTP insurance in Victoria
- Working windows and air conditioning
- Feature no commercial branding
