Beauty product of the week: Designer Brands Centre Stage mascara
If you haven't tried tubing mascara, you need to get behind it now.
If you're obsessed with hunting down fabulous cheap makeup finds, then you need to try this mascara. Designer Brands is an Australian beauty label that is committed to affordable, high-performance products. During the month of September, the brand is dropping a new product called the Centre Stage Curl & Volume mascara. I naturally have long and curled lashes, but the tips are blonde and can sometimes look invisible, which is why I love to use mascara. And frankly, I am obsessed with trying new ones! I put the Centre Stage mascara to the test and I was very impressed with the results.
The quick verdict
Why is it good? This mascara curls, gives volume and is super easy to remove.
How much is it? $15
Designer Brands' Centre Stage mascara promises to change even the most stubborn of lashes, with a formula that truly curls and provides extreme volume. It's enriched with hyaluronic acid and this works to plump, hydrate and ultimately lift the lashes. As an added bonus, it also has aloe vera, green tea, a Q10 infusion and Vitamin A and E.
One of my favourite things about this mascara is the incredible tubing formula. I like to think of myself as a bit of a mascara junkie, so I was gobsmacked when I realised I had never tried a tubing mascara before! Not sure what it's all about? Let me break it down for you. Tubing mascaras create tube-like enclosures around each individual lash. This results in a water-resistant, flake-free and smudge-proof formula that is removed with ease. The tubes actually slide off with warm water and gentle pressure. Goodbye eye makeup remover!
I was really impressed with both the lasting power of this mascara and how easy it was to remove. It doesn't come off with a makeup wipe and it really struggles with micellar water. I wore the Centre Stage mascara all day, rubbed my eyes and even shed a few tears – no flakes and it did not budge. I removed it in the shower – I simply wet my eyes with warm water and then using my thumb and index finger, I applied gentle pressure to take it off. It may sound scary but I honestly had no issues with any lashes coming out!
The wand of the Centre Stage mascara is really unique too. The bristles are fluffy but they also have a curved edge and this works to hug your lashes. I wiggled it through and I found it really easy to coat every lash, from root to tip with the fabulous tubing formula. No lash is left behind! It also separates and flares out the lashes to give your eye a gorgeous panoramic effect. If you're after more drama and one coat simply isn't enough, you can build up multiple coats for maximum effect.
Any negatives? I find that the formula is quite wet and I have to be careful not to make a mess on my eyelid. In saying that, my lashes are naturally long and it can happen with other mascaras too, so I'm not sure what's to blame. Either way, if I do make a mess it easily comes straight off, so it's not a major problem for me.
The Centre Stage mascara works for all lash types. The only shade it comes in is Blackest Black. Like all other products from Designer Brands, this mascara is also 100% vegan and cruelty-free. What more could you ask for? But now, the ultimate question... is this the best mascara? In my opinion, it's definitely one of the best and for the price, I really recommend you give it a go yourself.
You can pick up this fabulous mascara for just $15. Yep, it's an absolute steal and I am more than happy to pay that price again and again.
Where to buy
The Centre Stage Curl & Volume mascara is available online at Designer Brands. You can also check on the site which leading pharmacies in your area stock it too. If all else fails, Adore Beauty is an official stockist of the beauty brand. It's not available on the site at the moment, but keep your eyes peeled as we're expecting it to drop sometime this month!
