The most popular cruise destinations from Amsterdam are:
River cruises from Amsterdam to Budapest sail on the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers, and traverse through the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary. The journey comprises outstanding vistas of the picturesque countryside, medieval castles and bustling towns.
Ocean cruises take the Viking route to Norway and offer wonderful views of Norway’s landscapes including fjords and high-rising cliffs.
The former imperial capital of Russia, St. Petersburg is packed with stunning historical architecture, iconic cathedrals, museums and shopping hubs. You have the option to take both one-way and round-trip ocean cruises from Amsterdam to St. Petersburg.
Explore the colourful and sunny side of Europe on an ocean cruise to Barcelona. The itinerary usually includes stopovers in Bruges, Le Havre, Bordeaux and Lisbon.
River cruises depart from Amsterdam and travel across Germany on the Rhine to reach Basel, Switzerland. The cruise passes through beautiful landscapes dotted with old fortresses, towns and villages.
Cruises from Amsterdam depart from two ports: Amsterdam Passenger Terminal and Felison Terminal.
While Amsterdam Passenger Terminal is located close to the city near the railway station, Felison Terminal is in the port city of IJmuiden which is 40km from Amsterdam.
To reach Amsterdam Passenger Terminal from Schiphol Airport by public transport, take the train from the airport to Centraal station. The train ride takes 15 minutes and is followed by a 15-minute walk to the terminal. Taxis from the airport take around 15-20 minutes, depending on the traffic.
There is no direct public transport from the airport to Felison Terminal. However, you can take a train from the airport to Amsterdam CBD then connect to a bus to the port.
Taxis, ubers and airport shuttles can save you time and hassle when making your way from the airport to the port. Private transfers can be booked through Viator starting from $23 per person.
