Western City Credit Union’s history dates back to 1965 when it began operations as CMA Employees Credit Union. A merger between CMA Employees Credit Union and MM Employees Credit Union in 1989 gave birth to the name, C & M Credit Union. By 1995, this credit union started offering membership to include communities in Liverpool, Fairfield, Campbelltown, Camden, and Holroyd, and it changed its name to Western City Credit Union. Western City CU became a part of the Community Alliance Credit Union Limited in 2006, and this alliance boasts of around 42,000 members and in excess of $450 million in assets. While the Community Alliance Credit Union Limited has 11 branches in all, Western City CU has two - its head office in Wollongong and a branch in Campbelltown.
