Benefits of using Queensland Police Credit Union credit cards

When you bank with Queensland Police Credit Union you can look forward to paying reduced fees and charges as well as competitive interest rates, given that, like other credit unions, QPCU diverts its profits into its own functioning. Getting a credit card through QPCU comes with various benefits, which include the following.

  • Easy access to funds

You can use both QPCU credit cards to make in-store purchases as well as for shopping over the phone or online. Millions of merchants across 200 countries accept Visa as a form of payment, so you can use these cards globally. For cash advances, you can turn to any ATM that displays the Visa logo.

  • Rewards with a difference

While most rewards programs give you a limited number of reward options from which to choose, with some even being rather restrictive, Bluey Rewarder Visa Credit Card gives you access to a Rewarder program that comes with almost no restrictions. Your rewarder points accumulate in your rewarder account, and you can redeem these points to make regular purchases at any EFTPOS outlet in Australia.

  • Card security

Queensland Police Credit Union credit card users can look forward to enhanced security because these cards receive additional security protection through ORION, QPCU’s locally based fraud management service provider. ORION monitors suspicious transactions, and should one occur, you receive a phone call immediately. ‘Verified by Visa’ is in place to work as an additional layer of security when you use your card to shop via the Internet.

How to apply for a Queensland Police Credit Union credit card?

You can visit a QPCU branch to apply or you can initiate the process over the phone. To download an application or to apply online, simply click on the ‘Go to Site’ button next to the credit card of your choice. Make sure you meet the following eligibility criteria before you begin with the application.

  • You are a government employee and reside in Queensland
  • Your job involves justice and protection of life and property
  • You are a relative of a QPCU member

The credit card application requires you to part with a host of information which includes the following.

  • Personal details. Start by providing your name, date of birth, marital status, number of dependents, phone number, email address, residential address, and mailing address.
  • Income. This section requires details about income from all sources.
  • Assets. Provide details about assets like real estate, vehicles, savings, and investments.
  • Expenses. Examples of expenses include utility bills, fuel, food, and school fees.
  • Liabilities. You have to provide details about existing loans, credit cards, store cards, and any other form of credit.

What happens next?

If Queensland Police Credit Union requires any additional information after you submit your application a QPCU rep will contact you. You can expect QPCU to make an income verification call to your employer. You’ll have to become a QPCU member before you receive your card, that is, if you’re not an existing member. In this scenario, you’ll also have to go through a legally required identity verification process.

Frequently asked questions

Here, you’ll find answers to frequently asked questions about Queensland Police Credit Union credit cards, and you can leave a question using the form at the end of this page.

How quickly can I complete the online application?

The online application should take around 10 to 15 minutes to complete, as long as you have all the required information at hand when you start. You have the option of saving your application in between, and you can access it again for up to 60 days.

Can I check the status of my application?

Yes, you can check your application’s status online or by calling QPCU on 13 77 28.

Can I get an additional card?

You, as a primary cardholder, can ask QPCU to issue an additional for any individual over the age of 16 years. QPCU does not have to oblige to your request, and it may impose certain conditions when it comes to using the additional card.

What is the credit limit and can I apply for an increase?

The minimum and maximum credit limits of these Visa credit cards are $1,000 and $25,000, respectively. You can apply for an increase in your card’s credit limit but QPCU does not have to agree. If QPCU feels your existing financial condition does not justify an increase, it will decline your request.

How can I make repayments?

You can make payments towards your credit card using QPCU internet or mobile banking platforms, at any time. You can call QPCU on 13 77 28 at any time and make payments by transferring funds from a QPCU account. You can set up automatic repayments using a nominated QPCU savings account, and if your pay credits to a QPCU savings account you can also set up automatic payroll deduction. You can make payments by visiting any Westpac branch and you can make payments via Bank@Post. You also have the option of mailing cheques.

Does the rewarder program attract a fee?

No, enrolment into this program is free for Bluey Rewarder Visa cardholders.

How can I track my reward points?

Your credit card statement tells you how many points you have and you can also turn to the Rewarder website to check.

Do the reward points expire?

These points don’t expire as long as an account is active and in good standing.

How do I earn reward points?

You earn reward points when you use your Bluey Rewarder credit card to make purchases, and this includes purchases made in foreign currency.

How do I redeem reward points?

The points that accumulate in your rewarder account convert into dollar value. You can use your rewarder card to make purchases at any merchant in Australia who accepts payments via EFTPOS.

Are these rewards points the same as cash?

While you can use your reward points at EFTPOS terminals for making purchases, you cannot get cash out, and you cannot withdraw your reward points using ATMs.

What should I do if I lose my card?

To report a lost or stolen credit card during business hours call QPCU on 13 77 28. Outside business hours you should call the Visa hotline on 1800 621 199. If you call the Visa hotline, inform QPCU of the same as soon as possible.
