We're checking availability for RAT testing kits regularly but delivery times are subject to change. All tests sold in Australia must be approved by the TGA. Some sellers try and charge prices far above the average ("price gouging"). This isn't legal in Australia. Always consider your options carefully before buying.
Pricing varies. You can expect to pay around $25-$30 for a 2-pack of rapid antigen tests. Many retailers only offer testing kits in packs of 5 which are generally priced between $50 and $100. Some stores are only offering bulk buying solutions where you'll need to purchase in packs of 20+. These are usually available for $220-$350.
After weeks of limited availability, most major Australia retailers now have RAT kits available to buy in-store, including Woolworths, Coles and Chemist Warehouse.
Finder is checking online stock levels regularly to update retailers' supplies. Check out our round-up of online stores stocking reliable COVID rapid antigen tests with speedy delivery to your door below.
Note: The products in this guide have all been approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) for purchase in Australia. For a full list of approved COVID-19 rapid antigen self-tests, head to the TGA website.
Edit product setThe government currently provides free PCR tests at COVID-19 testing clinics throughout the state. The test can be taken by anyone who is asymptomatic or may be showing COVID-19 symptoms.
Under current rules, you should only get a PCR test if you have COVID-19 symptoms, are a close contact or need a COVID-19 test to leave home quarantine and cannot get your hands on a RAT.
A free PCR test also cannot be used for international travel. Instead, you will need to pay for a test from a private clinic up to 72 hours before you fly.
Find your nearest testing clinic in Perth here.
When WA does finally ease its border controls, in addition to being double dose vaccinated, many countries require you to take a PCR test 72 hours prior to departure. This means you will not be able to use a public COVID-19 clinic as results can take longer than this to be returned, and they do not provide the necessary documentation. International arrivals will also be required to return a negative PCR test within 48 hours of arrival to WA and on day 6.
If you're able to depart WA, you can arrange a test directly from a clinic in Perth up to 72 hours before you fly.
COVID-19 testing for pre-departure international travel clearance is only available at private pathology collection centres. This means you cannot rely on a free test from a COVID testing clinic. Instead, you will need to pay a fee for a COVID-19 travel certificate.
Fortunately, it's not too difficult to book an RT-PCR test and get your certification for as little as $100. You can arrange a test from a number of clinics around WA up to 72 hours before you fly. The amount you pay will depend on the clinic and how quickly you need the results.
You can find a list of clinic locations where you can book a test and receive your COVID-19 travel certificate below.
A number of private clinics provide RT-PCR tests for travel from collection centre locations around Perth. Clinics operating in Perth and wider WA include Western Diagnostics Pathology and Clinipath Pathology.
To book a test, simply head to the website of your preferred (or most local) testing provider and follow the relevant appointment booking instructions outlined. Some testing locations don't require an appointment and offer services on a walk-in basis.
An express RT-PCR swab test from Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology costs $145. If you are travelling to China, you will also need to take a blood antibody test. Both tests combined cost $195.
