What’s in the Converse Chinese New Year 2020 collection?
Converse is set to celebrate the Year of the Rat with an all new sneaker and apparel range.
Joining the likes of both Nike and adidas, sneaker brand Converse is next in line to release a collection in time for the Chinese New Year. The label is going all out for the celebration, with three new sneakers and a fresh range of outerwear scheduled for release next month.
Release date: 2 January (US)
Where to buy: Converse
The colourful capsule sees the arrival of a pair of Pro Leathers, Chuck Taylor All Star 70s and Jack Purcells all decorated with a patchwork design on the uppers.
The Pro Leathers are the most low-key of the mix with an all-black upper lightly decorated with colourful patterns and a red midsole.
The All Star 70s kick things up a notch with textured black and grey uppers contrasted with tubing in shades of red, orange, yellow, blue and green. Multi-coloured eyelets further enhance the eye-catching design.
The boldest style arrives in the form of the Jack Purcell model, which sees a stark white upper paired with bright red and purple panelling. Multi-coloured piping and mismatched coloured eyelets round out the design.
The apparel line meanwhile pays homage to classic Chinese paper-craft, with a wrinkled, paper-like design evident on some of the jackets and vests.
The unisex range sees black and white hoodies in the same patchwork patterns as the shoe line with intricate patterning on the hoods. A red bomber jacket also sees paper-craft prints on the rear while a range of pullovers feature the classic Chevron Star logos.
Each style from the range also features "2020" branded tags on the hem.
The Year of the Rat line is set to drop on 2 January in the US, which means that it should be available in Australia within the coming weeks. When it lands, you'll be able to shop it first from the Converse online store.
