Launched in 2019, Contentos is a decentralised blockchain focused on transparent content distribution. According to the whitepaper, the aim of the project is to build a decentralised digital content ecosystem that honours author ownership and intellectual property rights. To facilitate this, the blockchain utilises a self-adaptive Byzantine Fault Tolerance (saBFT) consensus mechanism to achieve community consensus quickly while allowing for digital content to be freely produced, distributed, rewarded and traded. The mechanism should keep pace with the high-frequency interaction required from a content platform.
Contentos’s internal architecture is broken down into 3 layers. The first focuses on decentralised storage and the creation of decentralised content agreements – payments for creators will be received without a middleman. The second is the financial system that focuses on the interaction of all encrypted tokens in the network. The third is a social network that combines the delivery of content, incentivisation to create new content and a credit rating system to hold users accountable.
COS is the native cryptocurrency of the ecosystem. It is designed to facilitate all of Contentos’s gas fee payments and allow users to participate in various voting-related processes.
