Finder Beauty Fave: Colourpop x Disney’s Frozen 2 collection

Posted: 24 January 2020 9:19 am

This is my honest review of the adorable ColourPop x Frozen 2 collection.

Why we love this product

I'm a big fan of Colourpop – the products have yet to disappoint me. What's my favourite product? Without a doubt, you need to get your hands on the No Filter Matte concealer.

When the Colourpop x Frozen 2 collaboration first dropped back in November 2018, the adorable products definitely intrigued me. I love the brand's face and lip products but never tried the eyeshadows. So naturally, I was pretty keen to give them a red hot go. How did they square up against my other favourite eyeshadow palettes?

The quick verdict

Why is it good? If you want to try Colourpop for the first time, this adorable collection is a good place to start.

How much is it? US$76 for the full package.

Where to buy it? Colourpop. The products are limited edition so you're going to have to be quick!

What's in the collection?

Each of the main characters, Elsa and Anna, have an entire collection dedicated to them and their personality. There's a big difference in the colour schemes (cool tones for Elsa and warm tones for Anna) and we are absolutely obsessed!

The Elsa collection

  • The Elsa shadow palette – a nine pan palette of cool toned shades
  • Ultra Glossy Lip in the shade Mythic Journey – an opal shade with multi dimensional glitter flakes
  • Creme Lux Lipstick in Little Snow – a creamy pink raspberry colour
  • Glitter Gel in The Dark Sea – a silver blue shade with multi dimensional glitter flakes

The Anna collection

  • The Anna shadow palette – a nine pan palette of warm toned shades
  • Ultra Glossy Lip in the shade Free Spirit – a peachy apricot hue
  • Creme Lux Lipstick in Going North – a creamy chestnut colour
  • Glitter Gel in Waterfall – a warm gold glitter with copper accents

How did it perform?

Let's start off with the shadows because I've got some thoughts.

There are three different formulas – pressed powder shadow, pigment and glitter. The pressed powder shadows are super creamy and pigmented. The texture feels like velvet and I am obsessed.

However, some of the pressed pigment shades (in particular the mattes) were a little hard to blend out. The pay-off wasn't as intense as I would like it to be and it took me a while to blend and actually work with the product.

The glitter shades make a statement; they are reflective and multi-dimensional. While they hold onto the lids well, the glitter is not as intensely packed as you might think. As you can see in the photos below, it looks a little sparse in some spots.

On the other hand, I am absolutely impressed with the lip products. As you can see in the photos above, the creme lux lipsticks are very pigmented and apply like a dream, all thanks to the blend of acai, jojoba and pomegranate seed butters.

The lip glosses don't have a tonne of colour and pigment, but the texture is beautiful. It's formulated with jojoba oil so they make your lips look super glossy and pouty – a look that I can certainly get behind. If I had to pick one thing to change, it would be the application as I prefer a plush over a brush.

The last item in the package is the glitter gel, which I wasn't able to swatch, unfortunately. If you're on the hunt for pure glitter, then you're going to want to get your hands on this. The gel paste delivers intense pay-off. It's actually suspended in an adhesive gel formula, so there's no need to use glitter glue.

Another stand-out feature of this collection has got to be the packaging. Even with a cheap price tag, Colourpop never disappoints on its packaging. The design is absolutely adorable and it feels pretty durable. This honestly makes the perfect gift – but it is limited edition so you're going to want to get in quick!

Colourpop Cosmetics is known for being a fabulous and affordable beauty brand, so naturally, the collection is on the cheaper side.

You can pick up the entire collection for US$76, or you can pick up the items separately. The palettes retail for US$15, whereas the glitter gel and lipsticks go for US$9. The cheapest item is the ultra glossy lip for US$8.

Where to buy

The one and only place to shop the limited edition set is from Colourpop online. You get free shipping on orders over US$50 and you can click here to see if there are any available promo codes right now.
