This is my first time to look into a credit card reward program.
How do I find out the worth of the reward point to know whether it is worthwhile to apply?

      Hi Maggie,

Thank you for getting in touch with Finder.

If you consider applying for this Citi Rewards Platinum credit card, you’d earn 1 rewards point per dollar spend on eligibile transactions. Eligible transaction means any purchase excluding, but not limited to cash advances, balance transfer, special promotions, BPAY payments, purchases of foreign currency and travellers cheques, transactions made in operating a business, payments to other Citi accounts, bank fees and charges such as interest and ATM charges, transactions made using points and government related transactions.

      I hope this helps.

Thank you and have a wonderful day!

I am looking to pay for my university fee of 10k in June with the card and then pay it off in 12 months. Do you have a card available for that?

      Hi Ammar,

Thanks for getting in touch with Finder! You can use any card available to you as long as your university accepts credit card payments and which credit cards they accept. Please take note that unfortunately, a good number of them will add a 2% to 3% surcharge for the convenience. While that doesn’t sound like much, it could hurt: On a $5,000 tuition bill, you could pay around $150 just in credit card fees.

Contact the registrar’s office at your university to find out if you can pay with a credit card — and how much you can expect to pay on top of your tuition.

      Hope this helps!

Hi, I couldn’t see any information on what the cancellation fee is on this card? What is it? Thanks!

      Hello Zac,

      Thank you for your comment.

There is no fee when you want to cancel the card. You may close your account or cancel any payment facility by contacting the bank. You can contact the bank to request an account closure through internet banking. They will process the request to close your account as soon as is practicable, once the balance of your account is zero.

If you wish to close your account and terminate your credit contract you are required to:

      • pay the outstanding balance of your account after the last transaction you, or any additional cardholder, authorised is charged to your account including all interest charges, fees, charges and expenses; and
      • you cancel all recurring card instructions with merchants.

You will be told if there is anything else you need to do for them to complete your request. Hope this helps.

I currently have this card but was wondering how to get the balance transfer rate as well? Can I close my current card and apply for the same card to get the balance transfer rate? Does this make sense?

      Hi Tennyson,

Thank you for leaving question. You do not need to close the current account and apply for the same account. You may want to call Citi – with your current card, you may discuss with them how you can avail of the exclusive offer for the balance transfer rate. Hope this helps

I am confused re the 0% purchase rate. If I use the balance transfer facility and therefore have this interest free – am I also able to make purchases at the 0% interest rate or will I be charged interest as I have an outstanding debt, ie the balance transfer?

    • Avatarfinder Customer Care
      January 15, 2019

      Hi HV,

Thanks for getting in touch! Since this card offers 0% interest on purchases for 13 months, even if you have an outstanding balance transfer, you’ll get 0% interest on purchases within the 13 month period.

Should there be any leftover balance in the card after the 13 month period, the balance transfer amount will have a revert rate of 21.74% and 20.99% for purchases made. Hope this was helpful. Don’t hesitate to message us back if you have more questions.

    Hi Finder Team,
How does the Exclusive purchase rate offer works? So if I get approved with $10k limit and lets say I make $5k purchase then I will not pay interest on this for 13 months even if I don’t pay the full $5k balance amount after the statement period end?

This note “Interest-free days. If you pay your balance in full by the due date on each statement, you can get up to 55 days interest-free on purchases. You will not get interest-free days while you carry debt from a balance transfer.”
kind of contradict the Exclusive purchase rate offer.

    Please advise?

      Hi Ray,

Thank you for reaching out to finder.

The promotion for 0% on purchases is offered for a limited period only. Say for 13 months like for this Citi Platinum Credit Card, you won’t incur interest on all your purchases for that 13-month period. However, after that period ends, your card will begin charging you interested on your unpaid balance which is currently at 20.99% p.a. Basically, the “”interest free days”” is a permanent feature of a credit card. So depending on the card, it will sometimes give you up to 55 days (other cards have 62 days) without interest on your purchases. Please note though that while your card is offering a Balance Transfer (BT) or 0% interest on purchases promotion, this interest free days feature won’t take effect. So after the promotional period, that’s when this interest free days will work. For you to get this interest free days, you would need to pay your balance in full on your statement due date. To know more about this feature, please visit this page – https://www.finder.com.au/how-your-credit-card-interest-free-period-works
