When’s the best time to book Christmas flights to Bali?

According to Skyscanner data you can save as much as 11% on Christmas flights to Bali by booking in the final week of August if you're travelling in from Sydney and in the first week of October if you're travelling from Melbourne. If you're coming in from Brisbane, you can save up to 28% by booking early September.

Generally, the longer you wait the higher the cost of flights with prices starting to rise dramatically from mid-October.

Flying out on or before 10 December can help further cut costs. However, it’s difficult to save much on your return seat, as fares don’t start to decline until 25 January.

Tips and tricks to getting cheap Christmas flights to Bali

Try these tips if you still can’t find your sweet price.

  • Return on Christmas Day or Boxing Day: Most travellers prefer not to return from a holiday when they still have a few days off work. As the days around Christmas aren’t as popular for travel, you are likely to find lower fares. If you have the flexibility to play around with dates, book your tickets accordingly.
  • Hunt for the cheapest airline: More often than not, Jetstar offers the best prices to Bali. When you see them low prices advertised for the dates you want, it’s best to jump on them as they may not return.
  • Join loyalty programs: If you’re a regular traveller, you can enjoy special offers if you join a points program. Some airlines also offer credit cards with which you earn points based on your purchases. You can then use these to buy flights during peak periods for the price of taxes only.
