Fenty and MAC Chinese New Year collections

With the Lunar New Year just a few weeks away, we're taking a look at all the makeup collections you can get your hands on to celebrate.

As the Chinese New Year approaches, lots of major brands are starting to release limited-edition collections to celebrate the event. Makeup labels in particular have a penchant for Lunar New Year lines, and we've already seen some standouts that you'll be able to shop come January 2020.

From MAC and ColourPop Cosmetics to Fenty and Pat McGrath, we've rounded up all the Chinese New Year 2020 makeup collections that you're going to want to add to your makeup bag as soon as possible.

MAC Cosmetics Lunar New Year collection

1. MAC Cosmetics Lunar Illusions

When/where to buy it: Available now from MAC Cosmetics online

MAC Cosmetics releases a Chinese New Year range every year, but its 2020 collection is one of our favourites. While it seems to have forgotten that 2020 is actually the Year of the Rat and not the Dragon, the packaging is so pretty that you'll want to add it to cart anyway.

The Lunar Illusions range consists of a dragon-inspired Extra Dimension Skin Finish Highlighter, four lipsticks, four lip glosses, a nine-shade Now and Zen eyeshadow palette and a Dynastic Fantastic Face Powder Duo.

ColourPop Cosmetics Lunar New Year collection

2. ColourPop Cosmetics Lunar New Year

When/where to buy it: Available now from ColourPop Cosmetics online

Not only is ColourPop Cosmetics' Lunar New Year range adorable, but we also know that it will be super affordable too. Most of ColourPop's products come in at under US$30, making this a great line to snap up if you want some celebratory goodies that won't break the bank.

The Lunar New Year range features a Lucky You Super Shock Cheek Duo, three Lux Liquid Lipsticks and a Fourth Ray Beauty White Tea Face Milk.

Make Up For Ever Chinese New Year range

3. Make Up For Ever Chinese New Year 2020

When/where to buy it: Unknown/Make Up For Ever online

Make Up For Ever's limited-edition line comes in packaging specially designed to represent the most significant colours in Chinese culture: red for luck and celebration and gold for wealth and fortune.

The line consists of an Ultra HD Loose Powder, a Powder Kabuki 124 Brush and both a L and XL Artist Face Colour Refillable Palette that you can stock up with all your favourite eyeshadows, blushes, highlighters and sculpting powders.

Becca Cosmetics Lunar New Year

4. Becca Cosmetics Year Of The Rat Pressed Highlighter

When/where to buy it: Available now from Becca Cosmetics online

Becca Cosmetics is one of the only beauty brands we've seen that recognises the 2020 Chinese New Year as the Year of the Rat. While rats may not be the prettiest of muses, the label has managed to come up with an adorable version to imprint in its top-rated Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter.

The pale gold highlighter has a creamy texture and gives off a stunning natural glow. It's also one of Becca's bestsellers, making it worth trying out if you haven't done so already.

NARS 2020 Lunar New Year collection

5. NARS Lunar New Year collection

When/where to buy it: Available now from NARS online, MECCA

Not only does the NARS collection arrive in a stunning mix of red and gold packaging, but it also contains a brand new product – the Natural Radiant Long Wear Cushion Foundation in cushion compact form!

In addition to the foundation, you'll also be able to nab a four-shade Singapore eyeshadow quad, Light Reflecting Setting Powder, Aquatic Glow Cushion Compact and two Afterglow Lip Balms.

Fenty Lunar New Year collection

6. Fenty Beauty Lunar New Year

When/where to buy it: Available now from Fenty Beauty online, Sephora

While Fenty Beauty's Chinese New Year collection consists of just one set, we still think it's worth a look. The Stunna New Year Highlighter + Lip Set sees a full-sized Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter in Mean Money/Hu$tla Baby paired with a full-sized Stunna Lip Paint Longwear Fluid Lip Color in Uncensored.

The duo comes in a themed red, black and gold box and will be available online at Fenty Beauty on 1 January for US$50.

Pat McGrath Chinese New Year palette

7. Pat McGrath Golden Opulence Palette

When/where to buy it: Available now from Pat McGrath online

You can always count on Pat McGrath for a gorgeous eyeshadow palette and its Lunar New Year version is no exception. Titled Golden Opulence, the six-shade palette sees a mix of shimmer and matte hues in browns, golds, pinks and yellows.

The luxurious palette will set you back US$65 and is said to be all about 'evoking moods of prosperous luxury.' A mini glosses set is also rumoured to be coming soon, so be sure to keep an eye out.

Too Faced Chinese New Year highlighter

7. Too Faced Diamond Light Highlighter Chinese New Year edition

When/where to buy it: Available now from MECCA

This Chinese New Year, Too Faced has decided to repackage its popular Diamond Light Highlighter in a limited edition design. The buildable formula is encased in a red and gold box featuring a sweet pink and gold mouse on top.

The highlighter itself is infused with real crushed diamond powder and light reflecting pearls, helping you to achieve a buildable sheen this holiday season.

Charlotte Tilbury Chinese New Year products

7. Charlotte Tilbury Chinese New Year Magic Cream and Magic Red Lipstick

When/where to buy it: Available now from Charlotte Tilbury

Charlotte Tilbury has also repackaged some of its cult-favourite items for the festivities, including its best-selling Magic Cream. Now arriving in a red and gold design, the plumping cream sells every two minutes globally, making it one to try.

A new Matte Revolution lipstick in Magic Red is also up for grabs in a long-lasting, moisturising formula.
