Frequently Asked Questions

Can you order directly from your favourite Chinese restaurants?

Apart from these mobile delivery apps and websites, many Chinese restaurants have their own in-house delivery. Some of the more popular restaurants with their own delivery riders include Mr. Huang Jin and The Oriental Tea House.

Which Chinese delivery services are available 24 hours?

Menulog, Uber Eats and Deliveroo all offer 24-hour delivery services. So as long as the restaurant you're ordering from is also open 24 hours, you can have Chinese food delivered to your home anytime.

What's the cheapest food delivery service?

With increased competition due to the pandemic, many food delivery services have been competing with one another to provide the lowest cost of delivery. Some even give loyalty points, food discounts and other perks for each order.

Recently, Menulog offered a $1.99 delivery fee for morning, noon and late night orders (during off-peak hours), which made them significantly cheaper than the $5.99 service fee typically charged by Uber Eats.

Is there a minimum order amount for Chinese food delivery?

Most delivery apps charge "small order" fees, wherein they apply an additional $2-$3 to the subtotal if the order is below $10.

How do I cancel my order?

Food delivery services put certain conditions on cancellations, since they're dealing with perishable items.

Menulog allows cancellation of orders at any time. However, depending on the status of your order, they may charge 50% of the full order value for the cancellation if the restaurant has already started preparing your food.

Uber Eats, Deliveroo, DoorDash and EASI accept cancellation of orders at any time before the restaurant starts cooking your order. However, if the cancellation is made after they've begun preparing it, full payment will still be taken for your order.

        Which services offer contactless delivery?

Most food delivery services offer contactless delivery services now. Here's a breakdown of each of their policies:
        • For DoorDash, contactless delivery can be chosen by checking the "Leave it at my door" option at checkout.
        • All Uber Eats deliveries are now contact-free by default. The app notifies you when your food is at your door, and the driver will take a photo of the order in the place that they left it.
        • Deliveroo also uses a no-contact policy. Their riders inform customers when they've arrived, then place the order outside the door and keep a safe distance as they wait for the customer to collect their food, before updating the order delivery as "completed" on the app.
        • EASI has its riders set down your food order 3 metres from the door (or in the location of your choice), then call customers to come collect their order.
        • Menulog now also provides a contactless drop-off service as the default for all food delivery orders.

How do I pay for my orders? Do any food delivery services accept Afterpay?

Most mobile delivery apps now prefer contactless, online or mobile payments instead of cash. This prevents unnecessary interactions and limits the spread of Coronavirus from one person to another.

However, services like Afterpay, where the cost of the order is divided into equal instalments to be paid at a later date, are not yet honoured by any of the delivery services mentioned above, except for DoorDash which accepts a similar payment platform, QuadPay.
