This week’s cheap phones: My true love gave to me an LG V20

Brodie Fogg 6 December 2016 NEWS

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are over but the smartphone deals keep on coming.

Every week, finder searches far and wide for the very best smartphone deals in Australia. With Black Friday and Cyber Monday over, you'd expect to be heading back into full-price territory. Not so. DWI has decided to kick Christmas off early with deals on iPhone 7, Galaxy S7 Edge and LG's phablet, the V20.

Apple's latest products don't often get that much knocked off the top when they go on special, especially the larger size variants. This year's iPhone offers a sharp 12MP camera perfect for family snaps over Christmas dinner. Better yet, it's water and splash resistant so even if your sloshed Aunt spills the mulled wine, you're covered.

DWI are knocking $190 off the 256GB variant of the iPhone 7 now.

Last week's deal on the Galaxy S7 was one of the best we've seen all year, and this week it's Edge-y sibling is getting a similar treatment. When we reviewed the S7 Edge back in March we called it Samsung's best phone with one big drawback, the price tag. When you can pick up the clearly superior Galaxy S7 Edge for less than Samsung's asking price on the S7, the decision is a no-brainer.

DWI is currently selling off S7 Edge handsets at $480 less than Samsung's official price.

LG's premium phablet and G5 successor is one of the first smartphones to take advantage of Android 7.0, or Nougat if you're feeling festive. That's not all it's packing. The LG V20 also boasts a 16MP and 8MP rear camera (one standard, one for wide angle), a Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM and (this will make the parents happy) a removable battery.

DWI is currently selling the LG V20 at $819, that's a sweet $280 cheaper than the recommended retail price.
