Have a 5-night Malaysia holiday from less than $400 per person (including flights!)

Escape to the island of Penang, known for its beaches and cuisine, for less than $400 per person including flights and accommodation.

8 March 2016: AirAsia’s latest Mega Sale means you can now go on holidays in Asia for less than $400 per person*. That includes return flights to Penang and five nights accommodation. These $400 prices are available for people travelling from Perth, but Sydney, Melbourne and Gold Coast departures are available for not much more.

Hint: You can go for even less if you’d like to stay in Kuala Lumpur, but given Penang’s reputation for beautiful beaches, charming buildings and incredible cuisine, we opted to build a cheap holiday there instead.

First, you'll need to book your flight to Penang:

While AirAsia is advertising the fares as one-way, we’re finding lower prices when you book a return ticket. We’ve listed each below:

Second, you'll need to book accommodation in Penang:

Since everyone has different budgets and tastes, we've chosen three accommodation options: a three-star, a four-star and a five-star option. By choosing the three-star option, you'll be able to create a package for less than $400.

3-star: Tune Hotels Downtown Penang
3-star: Tune Hotels Downtown Penang

5-star: Evergreen Laurel Hotel Penang
5-star: Evergreen Laurel Hotel Penang

We're currently seeing rates at $133 (or $66.5 per person) for the 3-star Tune Hotel Downtown Penang, $253 (or $126.5 per person) at the 4-star Hotel Royal Penang and $449 (or $224.5 per person) at the 5-star Evergreen Laurel Hotel Penang.

About Penang

Lonely Planet sums up Penang pretty well: "If there's a more compact, convenient and exciting microcosm of the exotic east than Penang, we've yet to find it."

The small island is located just off the north-west coast of Peninsular Malaysia, about 350 kilometres from Kuala Lumpur. The capital city, George Town, is a UNESCO heritage-listed city with streets lined with colonial architecture with a charming Asian flavour.
