If you're looking for an effective cleanser that doesn't strip the skin, you need to give this a go.

Looking for a cheap cleanser that gets the job done? Or maybe you're looking for something to combat that dry skin? Allow me to introduce you to my new favourite facial cleanser that's under $15, the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser.

The quick verdict

Why is it good? It effectively cleanses the skin, without leaving it feeling tight or try.

How much is it? $13 for 236mL, although sizes do vary.

Where to buy it: Chemist Warehouse.

One of my favourite things about this cleanser is the formulation. It's non-comedogenic, non-irritating and fragrance-free. At first sight, it seems like a basic cleanser that simply gets the job done but there's so much more to it that you need to know about.

The Hydrating Cleanser is formulated with sodium hyaluronate, also known as hyaluronic acid. So while you're cleansing your skin, these ingredients work to hydrate and protect the skin's barrier by retaining moisture.

That's not all – if you're familiar with the CeraVe brand, you'll know that all the products contain ceramides and MVE Technology. Three essential ceramides work to restore the skin's natural barrier, while the patented delivery system (called MVE Technology) promises to deliver 24-hour hydration.

I use it morning and night, and my skin has never loved a cleanser more. I prefer to wet my face before application as this helps the product turn into more of a gel consistency – keep in mind that this is not a foaming cleanser.

CeraVe's Hydrating Cleanser is designed for people with normal to dry skin.

If you're looking for a cleanser that's going to leave your skin feeling totally clean and tight, then this is not for you. The Hydrating Cleanser is super gentle and leaves my skin feeling clean yet balanced and hydrated.

Affordability

CeraVe's Hydrating Cleanser retails at $13 for 236mL. There are multiple sizes available, sitting at different price points, including 1L bottles.

Do I think it's worth it? 100%. I would buy this cleanser again and again without hesitation.

Where to buy

My favourite place to shop anything from CeraVe is Chemist Warehouse online. The products are cheap and super accessible. If your local store doesn't have stock, you can easily just place an online order.
