What happens next in the Commonwealth Bank credit card application process?
Once the application for a Commonwealth Bank credit card has been submitted, you will be kept informed as to the progress at each successive stage, hence the necessity for providing accurate contact details. If the bank requires any more information from you, you will be informed of this within five days. If you are an existing Commbank customer registered for NetBank you can receive your response in as little as 60 seconds.
If you’re eligible for a Commonwealth Bank credit card, you will need to undergo an identity check, which is mandated by the Australian government. (This is not necessary if you are already a customer of Commonwealth Bank.) After your application is submitted, Commonwealth Bank will send you a letter requiring this proof of identification. This can be completed by having certain documents copied, then verified by an independent person of a specified background. These can then be mailed back to the bank. Alternatively, you can take these documents into a branch of the Commonwealth Bank so a bank representative can check them.
After all the information has been fully verified, you will receive your Commonwealth Bank credit card within ten working days, and your PIN under separate cover. The only thing left for you to do is to activate it, and start using it.

I’ve recently applied for a credit card and received an email shortly after informing me that I had been conditionally approved and that they need to see my wage slips and photo I.D.
I went into a branch and provided the documents in person, they were uploaded into the system.
My question is this:Is that all the bank needs from me,will my card automatically be sent out now?
I can’t get any info about my application Over the phone as being a new customer they can’t ID me with the limited info they have on me and I can’t get to a branch anytime soon due to my work hours
Thanks!
Hi Laura,
Thanks for your question.
If further information is required from you then Commonwealth Bank will get in contact with you. If they were the only documents that were required, and if these documents match the information you provided in your initial application, then your application will likely be approved following your providing these documents. Your card will then be sent out to you. Commonwealth Bank usually takes about ten working days from approval to get your card to you.
I hope this has helped.
Thanks,
Elizabeth
