Cathay just dropped another Hong Kong sale in our laps
And this time, prices start from just $644 return.
Hong Kong is fast becoming the place to be in 2018 with sales to the nation continuously rolling out.
The latest comes from Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong's de facto flagship carrier, and sees prices down to a comfortable $644 return. This is just $9 less than what was on offer last week and up to $100 less than what the price is anticipated to revert back to when the sale is over (see below for details).
Trips depart from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Cairns with the cheapest flight taking off from Melbourne. From there, the price rises steadily although not sharply. The prices peak with Brisbane to Hong Kong flights at $692 return, keeping all fares under the $700 return mark.
You can travel until 23 November 2018, though the big kicker is that all school holiday periods are excluded (that's 23 April - 14 June, 17 July - 20 September and 8 October - 23 November 2018). For travellers without a family, this is a bonus as it means you're less likely to be overwhelmed by crowds when in town.
Public holidays, including Anzac Day and the Queen's Birthday (NSW), are also excluded. For Sydney-siders wishing to hack their annual leave, October Labour Day (Monday, 1 October) is available for travel, so you can spend the long weekend shopping and eating away.
You've until midnight 7 May until prices hike back up to $700+ return.
To book: This sale is on now through Cathay Pacific.
Compared to last week's sale, you're looking at a couple of extra bucks in your pocket.
When these flights go off-sale, our intel tells us that prices will revert back into the $700s with fares from Melbourne rising to $721 return ($77 more than what's currently on offer), fares to Sydney increasing to $761 return (a $100 increase) and fares from Adelaide up to $747 return (a $101 increase).
That's not to say that you can't do better. In the past, we've seen rival airline Qantas slash fares to Hong Kong down to the low $500s, giving all others a run for their money. If you can hold out for better, great; if not or if you must fly with Cathay, then these are the fares to beat.
