Take your pick of a sun or snow vacation for under $1,000 return.

China Southern Airlines is currently having a sale on flights to Vancouver that will have you checking your leave balance at work.

The cheapest departure is from Perth at $915 return. This is closely followed by Adelaide and Melbourne which both have return flight fares of $919. You can also score flights from Sydney and Brisbane from $935.

Travel is for select dates from now until the end of November so you can catch the end of the ski season for a last-minute getaway or enjoy the summer festivals and whale watching later in the year.

Vancouver is also the starting point for many cruises to Alaska and you can find sailings from May to September.

Royal Caribbean is currently having a sale of up to 30% off plus onboard credit until 12 March with three sailings from Vancouver.

How good are these fares?

The very lowest we’ve seen to Vancouver is from $795 return on Philippines Airlines but the usual sale fare is from $949 with China Southern so you're still saving off already cheap prices.

Travel is for a wide variety of dates so try to find flights during April to June or September, the best months to visit Vancouver.

To book: Head to STA Travel for more information and to get your ticket.

The sale is on until 13 March unless sold out prior.
